Assassin's, Melee Weapon Training (Primitive), and skills.

By deadairis, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Sorry if this has been covered to death, but I couldn't find a clear answer that takes into account errata 3.0. The local expert's help appreciated in advance.

  • So, RAW, how does skill mastery work? If you can buy a skill you already have, you get +10 -- regardless of whether it's marked as +10%? Only if?
  • If it's "only if" marked as 10%, why the heck does the errata add the ability to buy Dodge to the Assassin's 1st level features (100XP)? Every Assassin has Dodge, period.
  • Relatedly, the errata also adds the "Melee Weapon Training: Primitive" to the Assassin's 1st level features. Every Assassin has this.

Are these there to accomodate starting packages which remove them, or some other...um...thing?

Thanks!

1. You can only improve a skill by buying a +xx advance that you don't already possess. For example, you can't get +20% to Decieve withoit having first bought Decieve, Decieve +10% and of course have Decieve +20% on you list.

2. and 3. Yes this is redundant, and yes it is only for characters with alternative Starting Packages etc. As of now you always get the Assassin starting skills, talents and gear, but if a GM or FFG wanted to introduce alternative starting characters those could still buy those talents/skills as they are on the list.
