Reinforcements for dead PC's

By Tattoedbikerdude, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

What have you guys used to bring in renforcements to replace dead characters in missions where the team are cut off?

In an adventure where the team have no prospect of reinforcement where a member of the team dies I dont want to force the player to sit out.

There are ovbvious solutions such as finding a stranded survivor of another team, temporarily allowing the use of an NPC or providing a reinforcement against all odds, but I'm worried sfter a while some of these may be too convenient.

Please let me know if you have any other ideas.

Cheers

Try NPC marine support, let each character state what his second choice of PC would be, fill the team with those, but keep them in the background. Besides you need to force your players to burn 2-3 fate points on a single mission to take them out of action completely, and a barely alive marine is still fit for at leas some heroics

It's really the same problem as in any adventure wehre the players are cut off from friendlies. I tend to try to be careful when completely cutting the PCs off for exteneded periods. Have multiple teams sent in with different objectives, do as tkis suggests and add backup members to the KT or try and structure a 'reinforcements en route' scenario to try and get the PCs support only to have much of the approaching support blown out of the sky prior to joining up with the squad.

But as tkis suggests, it's hard to take folks out of action completely due to the fate point mechanic, so these scenaros shouldn't be super common, at least in theory.

That's true.

Thanks Guys
