Liber Fanatica: are you using it? What would you like to see in #8?

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Liber Fanatica 7 was pretty fun to write up and we're getting started on #8. What kinds of things would you like to see in issue #8 that FFG probably won't get to in their core stuff? Scenarios? Career articles? More action cards? Fluff?

You can comment here and also at: www.liberfanatica.net/phpBB3/viewforum.php

Would love to see items and weapons, a little armory. Freeplay Chaos Star Interpretation. The best actions with the perform a stunt card. Social Encounters and how to manage them.

  • I'd love more equipment, mostly listings with prices and stuff. Like normal "stuff", horses, clothes, services (what does it cost to travel in a coach for 10 miles for example).
  • Adventures are allways welcome.
  • As the previous poster said, chaos star interpretations and tips about that.
  • Ideas around social encounters.
  • "Random encounters" ordered around themes (like a table where you can roll a d100 and get a encounters ideas for the PC's when they travel or are skulking around town at night etc.)

As for the previous Liber Fanatica. I printed it, put it in binders, read it all and I'm planning on using the adventure soon. One of my players read through the "support action/talent" section she (and I) liked it a lot since she is playing a rather supportive role in combat. All the fluff texts and other ideas in there was great too, and I think I'm going to use the ready made NPCs from time to time. So I guess that's a good mark. ;)

Keep up the good work.

online version of living FAQ and rules clarification would be nice. FFG will not do it anytime soon....

Maybe it will be a good thing to make it by ourselves. With linking key words etc.

Its time to gather all that we did on the forum here and put it in one place - rules, faq, game help, action list, etc etc

The Roadwarden in our party loooved the action card strategy guide in the last issue! And as a GM I loved the amount of "fluff" on revolutionary groups and will be making full use of it in the near future. So definitely more fluff related items!

I'll second the motion to include a price list on mundane items and services.

First: Thanks al lot for this great and helpful magazine!

I also want to suggest Chaos Star resolution, and while you're on it, why not do the same for Sigmar's Comet?

Apart from that, I will be glad with anything you come up with.

Couldn't agree more. An item list/armoury as an alterative to the more free form lists in the core game would be great.

Maybe articles on PCs goals in life, and how to implement such personal goals in the game, mybe linked to how to implement career transition into the story (beyond pure game mechanics).

An update to the old article of herbs and drugs would also be most welcome, maybe with some poisons added.

In general, I'd rather see articles helping out with suggestions for the game and system, than extra fluff. The Old World is really rich as it is.

I would like to compile a more complete equipment guide to give more differentiantion. I will need a bit of help keeping the prices in accordance with the economy of the empire, but I have already made a start as I wish to submit this as my draft article.

Sadly, I won't be looking at animals of burder as I am waiting to see how the warriors supplement comes out with and how they treat horses (as a pet derivative I hope).

More on these thoughts later.

Can I request a graphic lite version for this excellent document? happy.gif

Trying not to use too much toner on print whenever I can.

Sadly I have loads to do with my thesis work and I don't think I'll be able to write anything else for a long while, even if it would be fun. If I find the time I'll send you an e-mail though.

Well, If people have ideas for good fluff (and this could be a good group effort) - Why not try to feature one new location / place / settlement in each Liber Fanatica. Probably best that this is from the Empire, but why not anywhere from the Old World.

And I dont mean tryin to create one of the major cities or even biggest towns - But some smaller location. And even better if it is from the maps - something we know, but there is no actual details (or very limited amount). Small town, village, river gate, inn, druidic-site, tower, castle... Details, little history, some personel, even better if some map could be provided.

Also this could be connected to some adventure or other fluff in the same Liber Fanatica...

Double post....Sorry....

I am with you on this one Jackdays, we could also incorporate ideas for location card usage, maybe detail a few of our own location cards. I believe that the best way for us to do this would be to introduce new areas through the Adventure that should come with each issue. We could have several people work on the adventure, creating Maps, Memorable NPC's, and other obstacles for the PC's to overcome. Working art and a few other goodies into the package I think we could have a winning formula for making this idea of yours a mainstay with the Fanzine. If you are interested in exploring this idea futher contact me or Boogle and we can get something going.

Familars, Potions and ritual creation were things i was very dissapointed not to be in the winds of magic.

Spotlights on various Reikland towns would be great, but even a small town is a massive undertaking, i attempted to do Wurtbad for second edition about three years ago after many many hours of work and only being about halfway thru my computer totally keeled over so i havent even considered such an undertaking again, but maybe you could do a section of a medium sized town in each issue or half a section for more detail, slowly bringing the place to life.

I think i read that you were aiming for a theme on crime, so maybe you could look into the Khanite Human worshippers and Grumhold, as well as followers of Ranald, as these would fit in well and offer a far more sinister look into the philiosophy of empire crime organisations. Along those lines I think poisons, drugs essential when thinking about organised crime in the Old World, Mandrake Root and Black Lotus are heavily used in Warhammer lore and would make sense when thinking of crime.

Looking at various crime syndicates and how they work, from pirates, to pick pockets, and maybe some suggestions or ideas for who could be behind such organisations. Maybe some short bloodbowl style stories or run downs of famous thieves/crime lords from across the Old World would be a nice little touch if placed sporadicly across the issue.

You could look into the trade in forbidden articfacts, from warpstone to grimores.. maybe do a location of a shop of a such supplier...

Hope you can draw something from my ideas. Thanks Crimsonsun.

Edit; Just thought of something i would find extremely useful city/large town random encounters divided by district. Some positive, some humours and some **** right nasty. It could be a simple process of rolling a challange die when the party/player enters a new district and on a chaos star something happens. This would be really useful, ive seen countless wilderness, river, and weather charts but other than a few under developed ideas in Spires of Altdorf nothing more solid.

Got some new ideas:

  • An adventure
  • Rules for the management of an estate (for example my players got the Grunewald Hunting Lodge and want to "run it" to gain income and be able to make repairs and other things to the grounds)
