I have a player that wants to be a librarian and use the new rules for the Imperial Fists from RoB. The squad ability for them give all battle-brothers in support range the Bolter Drill talent. Does this function for everyone, or only others from the IF chapter? I just wanted to make sure before I told them a definite answer. I know some squad things like that only function for members of a specific chapter.

Well since it is a Chapter attack pattern it only functions for any other Imperial Fists in the squad unless you are a Tactical Marine who did not take Bolter Mastery. As a Librarian he is out of luck.

There is a way around this - the Deed Strike Team Specialist. If your leader has it, he can activate (and benefit from) any Chapter attack pattern of any squad member.

It's a Deed. That means that you can only take it with your initial 1,000xp, so there's no minimum Rank requirement.

The "Forging the Bond" talent described in RoB would also allow you to benefit from this, but requires Rank 2.
