Need Lead developer for Liber Fanatica 8

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

We need a Lead Developer for LF8. I headed up LF7 and am willing to stay on as assistant editor, but I need someone to step up and take the reins to keep everyone to deadlines, encourage production, and get creativity out of people.

We've already got articles coming in, and I'd love to see this continue to ride the WFRP official release waves.

If you're even REMOTELY interested, please email me at: hafner DOT jay AT gmail.com.

FOR THE EMPIRE!!!

Jay Hafner

SUBMISSIONS WANTED!

With a few exceptions, those interested in participating in the LF8 inner sanctum forums will first have to provide an outline or full article. If you were working on one for LF7 and didn't complete it, now is your chance to get it into LF8.

We look forwards to your submissions.

Thanks,

Jay Hafner

Assistant Editor, LF8

I don't know about being a Lead Developer just yet. I'd like to be involved in the content for one of the issues before I "step up" for that role. However I am highly interested in being involved in LFVIII. 2010 ended in a bad way for me and that took me away from participating and even getting to play the Game (which is my favorite part ;p ), I'm happy to help develop content for the latest issue, and have an article that I'd love to try and get in there. I've already posted on the LF inner sanctum but I posted in the LFVII forum. Any help that you want and or need I'll do my best to provide, just keep in touch with me.

I'll be posting the accepting submissions notice soon, but here's the link to the inner sanctum. Be sure to submit your rough draft first. We're starting with that before accepting membership this time:

Hey guys - if you're in need of another editor, my time should be freeing up here in the near future (I have two editing projects I need to wrap up this weekend first) - so in a week or so I should be free to lend a hand.

Thanks for the offering to help edit. We actually need a lead developer and project designers this go around. That said, any author should keep Kalen in mind to help get feedback on any projects.

We've already got a couple articles in the works and I'd like to see a lot more of you guys put your house rules and scenarios into print :)

Thanks,

Jay H

I'll help with the development and production of LFVIII but I'm uncomfortable taking on the lead role until i've been involved with the project more! I have some good ideas that need fleshing out and discourse, and am willing to help with any other duties!

I look forward to the newest issue! Lets make it a memorable one!

I'm sensing a degree of trepidation in the air... gui%C3%B1o.gif

Perhaps a job description/list of duties of the Lead Developer might help encourage someone to take the plunge?

It's basically a project director. Here's what I did last time:

  • Set up timetables for rough draft, 2nd draft, and final draft. I did monthly. Each 14 days, I would remind the authors of each of their needs to finish the project.
  • Read each article and help edit. I assigned each author to be in charge of the majority of their own editing (it was up to them to get their own assistants).
  • Translate from Polish to English (just kidding)
  • Encourage/inspire authors on how to maximize their project, give it a Warhammer-feel, and still maintain a focused scope.
  • Work with the artist(s)/illustrators to make it beautiful (Casabon did a HECK of a job for us
  • Write the incredibly complex intro (you can see that I really wracked my brain on that part on LF7)
  • Recruit help.

I found the following things to be a challenge:

  1. Writing three articles and editing other peoples stuff at the same time. Sometimes it's necessary to step up and write an extra article to fill out the project. I should have stuck with a couple simple articles rather than the complex ones.
  2. Keeping enough authors motivated to have 8-10 articles at the end. We lost maybe 5 articles to problems along the way. We had a FULL SCENARIO that got lost when the author mis-saved it and he lost all of his edits (he then said screw it). One of our non-english-speaking authors found that the translation, while writing, was just too hard to keep up with. We had several great suggestions and partial articles that jsut didn't make it to print and we had a couple authors flat out disappear even after submitting rough drafts. KUDOS to those that had the courage and tenacity to stick it out.
  3. Estimating what FFG was going to put out so we didn't duplicate their releases. The Signs of Faith was not out when we started, so we waited on some things there.
  4. We had a LOT of people who joined the discussion group who just took up space (most never even made a comment). That's why we're not allowing anyone in this time who hasn't submitted and article FIRST. Brainstorming is going to occur on the open forum and then we're going right to the "secret" works in progress forum (inner sanctum).

LF8 is going to be a lot easier. We now have established authors. Sunatet and Casabon have done all the work on the Strange Eons plug-in. We just need someone to step up and be the project director.

I'm happy to stay on to write and assist in editing and content suggestions.

C'mon people! Which among you will lead us to the promised land?

I just sent you a short, 8-page email :)

Welcome to the Ordo Fanatica!

..now I can get started on a scenario..I"m leaning towards something cold..and in the mountains

One last thing: We went with an "All things related to Reikland" theme last time and would have kept that title, but we didn't end up with that much that was really "reikland." Strollingbones was wondering if or what our theme this time could be (or multiple themes..or just take what we can get!) aplauso.gif

(all heretics will be burned along with their silly books)

As a french speaking guy, I'm too bad in english to write some nice stuffs... But I'd be glad to help otherwise.

I think that having a theme is a super idea.

It give's a goal and a minor guide for the coming issue however i will not dismiss any article of quality even if it is not strictly within keeping of the theme.

As New emperor sorry editor and chief lacky i have made an instant deciesion the Theme for this edition will be

THE CRIMINAL EMPIRE

They're going to make you an offer you can't refuse. The organisation has friends in high places, and even more friends in low places.

You get the idea it's a broad topic that should appeal to many artists and writers.

I will be offering a prize for writers and artist's based on feedback from this edition after it is released more on that later.

I look forward to working with many of you and using my contacts to push this project on...

Regards

Outsiders new lead developer of liber fanatica...

So get your thinking cap's on and lets get submitting.

Also i will be introducing an artist and adventure competition that i will fund for this edition. More details will follow over the next few day's

The pure power i can see it,taste it the world is mine...From the darkness to the light......

Outsiders new lead developer of Liber fanatica....

I'm so glad to see that you are back in the saddle so to speak Sean! And as the new lead developer on LF8 it will be a pleasure working with you to help produce a top notch product.

I have several different articles that I'd like to have included, foremost of which I had been trying to have ready for LF7; however, due to a right sh!te end to 2010 I never managed to complete it. I am now totally focused on making this happen. I have an adventure idea as well as the main article that I have which deals with Travel and its Perils. Please let me know if you use skype and or maptools, as that is a way we can "speak" in real time. I want to bounce some ideas off of people to help really deliver a great article that touches all the bases of Travel and its Perils.

Also any help you need to motivate people, organize content, read/edit content or the like, just let me know. You can find me on most forums as The Strolling Bones!

Can't wait to work with you, you're an inspiration!
