Take the Money and Run
Dare you face the Dragon’s challenge? Boasting the deadliest dungeon in the history of hobby gaming, DungeonQuest presents an undertaking worthy of only the toughest adventurers: Make your way to the chamber of the Dragonlord Kalladra, grab as much treasure as you can, then race for the exit before a magical door seals you inside forever. Perhaps good fortune will grant you some random bauble early in your quest. Will you count your blessings and make for the nearest exit, or will you risk it all to venture onward toward even greater treasure?
The DungeonQuest tournament at Realms of Terrinoth 2011 tasks players with amassing the largest total sum of gold, won over three separate games. Each game, you’ll draw a random character before venturing into Dragonfire Dungeon alongside up to three other competitors. All players will “bank” any gold that they successfully escape with, regardless of which player wins the most. So even if you claim the least loot (or if you meet your untimely end in a bottomless pit), you can always make up for it in a future round of the tournament. Want to know where you stand? Check the official DungeonQuest tournament leaderboard, which will clearly display the progress of the top competitors throughout the weekend.
You can even tailor the DungeonQuest tournament schedule to fit your busy weekend! There are ten official DungeonQuest tournament sessions available throughout the convention, and you may choose the three in which you wish to compete. Just select your three sessions, have a tournament official record your attendance for those selections, and start racking up the points!

Raise Your Armies
The specter of war has cast its grim shadow upon Terrinoth, and four distinct factions raise their armies to vie for control of the powerful dragon runes. Whether through careful diplomacy, epic questing, or brutal combat, the leaders of the Daqan, Latari, Uthuk, and the undead legion will do whatever it takes to claim these ancient weapons for themselves. Who will prevail?
Played over three rounds, the Runewars tournament pits competitors against each other in a war for the fate of the realm. Featuring a never-before-seen custom map crafted by Runewars designer Corey Konieczka, this expertly balanced scenario guides the four factions toward its hotly contested center for an all-out bloodbath. The map is even included in the Realms of Terrinoth 2011 souvenir booklet, so you can start strategizing the night before the tournament, or play against your friends in the weeks that follow!

How does it work? Rather than trying to be the first to collect six dragon runes, you’ll win points according to a simple system. In each round, four players will randomly draw their starting factions and set up their initial armies before a ninety minute timer signals the start of the first spring season. At the ninety minute mark, an announcement will be made for all tables to play through the upcoming winter season, after which the round ends and scores are tallied.
When a round is scored, each player will receive five points per real dragon rune controlled, two points per area controlled, and one point per reward card held by a friendly hero. The player who has the most points after all three rounds wins! With sessions spread throughout Saturday, you’ll even have the scheduling flexibility to attend seminars, enjoy exclusive scenarios, or compete in one of our other two tournaments.
Competitors should plan to attend all three sessions:
Runewars Tournament Session 1 12:00pm - 2:00pm Saturday
Runewars Tournament Session 2 4:30pm - 6:30pm Saturday
Runewars Tournament Session 3 8:30pm - 10:30pm Saturday
Gather Your Party and Make the Descent
Think you and your friends have what it takes? This year’s Descent: Journeys in the Dark tournament (not to be confused with the Delve of Doom, a separate event) brings groups of four adventurers against some of the toughest dungeons Terrinoth has to offer. Put together your team of players, choose your heroes, and attempt to bank the most conquest points in each of three increasingly difficult encounters!

The Descent: Journeys in the Dark tournament is a team event in which attendees, taking on the roles of heroes, face off against FFG’s official overlords. Each of its three rounds begins with every player in your group choosing a hero and skill from the options below. Then, your team will try to make its way through a brief preselected encounter (with an overlord deck in a standardized order), keeping any conquest tokens that you successfully take with you. You’ll start with a high number of conquest tokens (for example, 15), but will lose one at the end of each round... so efficiency is key! How many points can your team bank, thereby adding them to your tournament total?
But because it’s never too early to start strategizing, we’re happy to offer this year’s official Realms of Terrinoth Descent tournament options. Each hero may choose only one of the listed skills, then receives 300 gold pieces to shop from the base game’s Town Store deck. So gather your team and start the discussion: what is the strongest configuration?
Hero 1: Sir Valadir or Steelhorns Skill Choice: Unmovable or Cleaving
Hero 2: Grey Ker or Vyrah the Falconer Skill Choice: Crack Shot or Rapid Fire
Hero 3: Mad Carthos or Landrec the Wise Skill Choice: Quick Casting or Inner Fire
Hero 4: Lyssa or Red Scorpion Skill Choice: Skilled or Blessing
Competitors should plan to attend all three sessions:
Descent Tournament Session 1 10:30am - 12:00pm Saturday
Descent Tournament Session 2 3:00pm - 4:30pm Saturday
Descent Tournament Session 3 6:30pm - 8:30pm Saturday
