Now, I'm a big fan of 40k the wargame; however, the same series I adore, I tend to find a bit iffy in roleplaying it. I find the constant shouting of For the Emprah! and playing the equivilent of a rage filled Paladin in the DnD sense at every turn horribly monotonous, so I found myself quite adoring Rogue Trader, where I get to do whatever I want, and even be a free thinker who commands his own ship.
I've found myself what is most likely going to be a solo game, and quite a lot of the classes didn't really appeal to me (Superspy accountent, EXTREME shooty missionaries and guides through the Void bored me senseless), so I defaulted to a near heretical Explorator; as my stats have turned out, a rather competant one. Rather than a belief in the Ecclisiarchy, the Omnissiah or becoming a complete logic machine, he's far more the cliche 'You are what you make of yourself', quite literally. Hopefully, going into the Genetor class, and playing some kind of... transhumanist who believes on improving himself, and those under his command, rather than 'I'm going to press-gang everyone into my ship because the world is grimdark, full of GRIM DARKNESS LIKE MY SOUL, and life is cheap!'. The GM even agreed to running a slightly less grimdark rendition, more along the lines of Firefly.
But enough of my innane blabbering; what I meant to ask was, how fitting was this concept, and how much would it work in the 40kverse? Also, I've rolled stats, but I'm not sure what to do with my Origin path... for someone owning a ship and commanding people, I'm assuming I'll need to spread myself out a bit. And while I've played a little bit of Dark Heresy, I'm not too sure whats important for staying alive. =P So far, my current stats are...

So just wondering, any suggestions or tips for surviving the Void?
