Scout Armor in Kill Teams

By WillisRBC, in Deathwatch

Something has been irritating me for a while now, and I might as well vent in this thread: how the hell does Scout Armour make a Space Marine more stealthy than if he was wearing a bodyglove?! Arrgh! This is a blatant case of ladeling out bonuses to make something 'cool' without taking common sense into consideration. The exemption of the penatly to stealth skills would have been fine by itsself, but no! This is apparently magic armour that whispers into a Space Marine's ear: "Look out for that dry twig!" Urgh... enfadado.gif

High tech fibers and non-reflective coating and blah blah sciency bull blah. Basically, Space Marines are like the army in real life, they get all the most fun toys meant to kill people with before (or in some cases non-military personnel never get access to the really fun stuff). Pretty much its made to make less noice, reflect less light, and not show up on auspexes and radar. I guess.

For his: "blah blah sciency bull blah...I guess;" Tempest Satori wins today's No-prize! You can pick it up in the mail in 3-6 weeks. Excelsior!! aplauso.gif

Wow you can't even quote correctly. That must be very helpful in you're chosen past time of trolling.

I know you're being facetious to express your anger... but that's TOTALLY how scout armor will work in my games from now on.

Hey, Tempest, you totally misinterpreted my post...don't drag your ill-feelings from one thread onto another - I have not! In this thread, my post was applauding you for your clever explanation of why scout armour is better than a bodyglove...i was not slamming you; i was not picking a fight; i was COMPLIMENTING you...i understand that being kind and friendly is not a familiar thing on these here interwebs, but that's what it was...if i was putting you in your place, you'd have known it... gran_risa.gif

(oh, and I DID quote correctly, by the by...really, you oughta relax, there, stormy...we're not all big scary guys out to get you...well, there is ONE big scary guy in here out to get you, but that's between you 'n him... gui%C3%B1o.gif )

So, to be clear: in this thread, I am not out to get you! Relax, enjoy, and bask in the fact that you came up with a quotable quote! It really did make me laugh; I really did like it. I don't take this post-sheit personally, dude; please cut me some slack and do the same, yes?

oh, and Gaire: awesome! Makes sense there'd be a machine spirit or blessing that confers such spiritual warnings to the wearer! (that's not the tack i'll be taking with our games, but awesome that you'd do it nonetheless...i'd say that wins another No Prize, but apparently folks around here take such things the wrong way....) gui%C3%B1o.gif

although, out of curiousity, just what does the voice sound like...?

"Listen! Listen! Listen! Listen!"

...ahh, but in who's voice?? Like, is it the Emprah's, or his own, or the voice from the field of dreams, or james earl jones, or....

but, to veer ever-so-slightly back onto course...Kshatriya: 'storming' a tau ship would presumably require power/termie armour; but 'sneaking onboard to kidnap/steal/blow up' could well require scout armour.....(.I'm reminded of the movie 13th Warrior, wherein the northmen heroes must shed their armour to creep through the living quarters of their enemy in order to get to and slay their Mother.).....not to mention how hard it would be to not slay all those xenos, despite the need for absolute stealth......oooh, a nasty gm could give the tau (or whomever) the technology to detect power armour at a distance, thus making scout armour indispensable against that particular foe....

Oh dear, i just had a dark thought: are Raven Guard scouts even MORE stealthy yet? sorpresa.gif

Just beware: your magic armour doesn't work against pixies...
