Big international tourney in Madrid

By Jef2, in 3. AGoT Organized Play

The Spanish community is preparing a tourney in Madrid on 5th and 6th of March.

So far we have 50 inscriptions, and we know some Italian and French people is coming. It may be even bigger than Stahleck, we won't play in a castle, though :).

If someone wants to visit the biggest agot meta in the world, or just wants to play something big before the next euro-championship, then contact the TO at [email protected], or visit the Spanish community forum: (not translated, sadly) http://guardiadelanoche.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6266

Hi everybody!

This tourney is going to be legendary!

¡Portugueses! ¡Quiero veros en Madrid el próximo 5 de Marzo!

The top 4 of the Sthaleck 2010 we will be in this Journey!

EORMINGAS!

Hei guys, I have infiltrated in the polish forum and make an announcement there: agot.4aces.eu/viewforum.php

I can not find any forum from Portugal. Any Portuguese here?

Ok, I have find that "tovra" is a player from portugal and he posts here on the FFG forums. I have sent him a message. Let's wait for the answer!

We should create an European website/forum for things like these.

Hello guys! Yes, we are talking about going there - it's near from Portugal! Everyone is excited with the possibility of meeting many of you guys again, as playing in a big tournament again! We only have to discuss the trip, and as most of us work we have to see if we can get some leave from work! We'll keep you posted on the updates!

BTW, when is the limit for the inscriptions?

I think there's no time limit. You can come and pay for your incription on Saturday the 5th but you won't get the T-shirt with your name. However, in order to prepare everything better you should confirm your attendance as soon as possible ^^

very bad timing, cause i cant go on the 4th (and will be late if i start on the 5th). i really would have loved to come there and take part in a big tourney!

hope you beat the stahleck number of 80. so there is a challenge out for the next stahleck event ;-)

btw: i also had a Sword as a prize once for a tourney (different game). it was won by a spanish player, but it was taken from him at the airport. so be careful!

it would be really difficult to beat stahleck!

we wait for news from the portuguese community. we really appreciate having players from outside spain.

Joao! If you read this, we played in the first roud in Stahleck. I the spanish guy with the Lannister custome: ¡Tenéis que venir a Madrid!

Nosotros los portugueses queremos ir a Madrid!! Será un placer!

Now in english for the rest of the forum to be able to understand.

I talked with Tovra, and the rest of the portuguese crew that was in Stahleck with us, today and we are starting to organize our trip. There are some logistical problems, for instance, I am not sure, because of work, if I will be able to go to Madrid. If I am not working abroad I will go almost for sure!

Anyway we will also keep an eye on the Guardia de la Noche forum for some info!

Too bad you can't come Thorondor... sad.gif

I've been checking out the possibility for us two Finns to participate in this tourney as well... Doesn't seem impossible, but it depends quite a bit on what our situation at work will be at that point. It would be really fun to participate in a large Tourney again and get away from the bitter cold... almost feels like the whole country is Frozen Solid.

I was wondering if you can recommend any good hotels/hostels near the gamesite? Also any other similar useful information would be beneficial. (Is it a problem that neither of us knows much spanish? Is there an easy way to get from the airport to the hotel? etc.)

If we'll be coming, I think we'll stay for a few more days afterwards and enjoy the fact that there probably aren't 2.5 m high piles of snow everywhere... :) But anyways, I still have to make sure it doesn't interfere (too much) with our work schedules.

Hey WWDrakey, most of the Spanish people who don't live in Madrid are staying here: http://www.ajmadrid.es/el_albergue.aspx

It's a cheap hostel (less than 20€/night) which is really close from the local shop where the tournament is to take place. In case the organization changes the place, we'll all go there together by metro/train so that won't be a problem. You can stay with us if you want to.

Also, you can take a taxi or the metro/train/bus to go from the airport to the hostel. That's what we'll all do so you won't have any more problems than we will.

Regarding the language, you won't have any problems if you can express yourselves in English, even if you need to grunt and mimic. Most of us can understand and speak English a little and some of us use that language in our daily lives. You'll be okay.

Sadly the portuguese group is severely reduced, because most of us will be working on that weekend and can't seem to get leave from work... llorando.gif

The only possibility of a portuguese representation in Madrid is if Tovra and his girlfriend can still make it... he's also not sure if he can go to Madrid...

Maybe next time... keep posting here in the forums about this big events in Spain. Hope you post here some reviews after the event...

Mucha suerte a todos!

This are very bad news... sad.gif

The next time we will warn before... We promise it! xD

Sadly my dreams of being able to represent the cold north have also been smashed by an unrelenting work schedule.

But I agree, would be great to hear more about tournaments in Europe on these boards, since I for one (or two as the case may be) would love to travel to participate. :)

Well I shall start to apologise for writing here, but I'm Portuguese from Porto and I want to pick up on AGOT but I must find players near me for that.

And I notice there are some portuguese players on this post but i can't send pm in this forum!!!

"Por isso malta portuguesa se puderem dar umas dicas onde encontrar mais pessoal para jogar agradecia."

Once again sorry for offtopic

So - any news from that tourney? Any reports?

Strike that last post. I just realized that this is an old thread that got bumped. But wasn't there a big tourney coming up in Spain in March? When is that?

There doesn't seem to be a way to send PM in this forum really...

"Existem pelo menos dois grupos de malta que joga Thrones, um grupo do Porto e outro de Coimbra, eu sou do grupo de Coimbra. Se quiseres ficar em contacto vai a cardgamedb.com e manda-me uma PM para LordOfBlades."

Sorry for the offtopic, but you can't let a fellow countryman gamer down... eheheh
