Detached

By shinjukujackal, in UFS Rules Q & A

Detached reads: R Commit: After you take damage from an unblocked attack, commit 1 foundation and discard 1 of your opponent's momentum.

Obviously, Detached becomes committed. My question is if the other foundation that you commit can be any foundation, including your opponents, or if it must be another foundation you control.

-thanks

Since it states one foundation and does not specify in who's area, you can commit a foundation in either your staging area or your opponent's.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: You cannot commit opponent's foundations as a cost unless the card specifies to do so. I have seen new players doing this before, so I just had to make it clear.

Yes, costs are always paid by the player who is playing the card or effect, unless stated. For example Ken's Shoryuken.

Just a clarification on Ken's Shoryuken: Its E: has no cost, and the "any" in the effect is technically extraneous. It would work the same if it just read "Commit 2 foundations." instead of "Commit any 2 foundations."

You can commit your opponent's foundations with Ken's Shoryuken.

Ok. My Bad. Bad example. But if it read - E Commit 2 of your opponent's foundations: Insert Effect Here - you could commit your opponent's foudantions as a cost.
