Expansion Heal or Hurt

Kingsport Horror - 7
Innsmouth Horror - 15 (Hurt)

The Lurker at the Threshold - 3 (Heal)

Innsmouth has nigh unreachable locations I hardly ever explore.

Lurker has relationships.

Exhibit items mostly suck

Hey JGT, you do know that Black Goat has gate bursts, too, right :-x But that's beside the point ^_^

Anyway, I just want bang bang bang, me no want relationship...

Atlach-Nacha. A nightmare embodied in a spider. Such a lovable pet.
Even if the board is great, Rhan-Tegoth is the crappiest AO ever (imho) and the wording on many things is pretty confusing
New gates are great, but they are few in number and thus changes a lot certain mechanics of the game.

Kingsport Horror - 8 (Heal)
Innsmouth Horror - 14

The Lurker at the Threshold - 0 (KILLKILLKILLKILLKILL!)

Death by sniper ;'D Maybe if it were a herald instead of a guardian it would have been able to hold me off.

I feel guilty for hurting my beloved Pharaoh... But I can't honestly claim it's a better exp than KiY.

Small boxes aren't better than large boxes, and I seem to disagree with every reason people use when they claim how much they hate Kingsport.

Fighting GOOs alon in other worlds is just crazy - in a good way.

Kingsport is just a retirement home for weak investigators.

The final combat cards really don't do all that much either besides compicating the affair.

Sort of feeling guilty for not doing more to help Lurker, but oh well.

Kingsport's big claims to fame are 1) making the worst part of the game less bad and 2) not diluting, but it hasn't actually done anything to make me want to play it. And while I guess I technically do want to play Dunwich, in that "mix it into the base set and promptly forget about it" sort of way, neither of these is exactly a ringing endorsement.

I guess I don't get to assassinate any boards today... Still, I'd be sad to kill any of the remainders (yeah, sure I would).

i guess i'll join in even though i don't have ALL the expansions (i just ordered KiY, Lurker, Insmouth to get them all) but of the ones i have...

black goat would have been my hurt but i guess others are in agreement

lurker kinda surprised me to see gone because i've seen so much praise about it being one of the better small box

so my hurt goes to kingsport andn heal to Dunwich...in the games i've played with them individually and together it just seems like nothing ever happens at kingsport except for the need to have someone control the Rifts...maybe my deck is too diluted but at least i get some action in at Dunwich.... i do however like the epic battle cards and guardians in KP but i tend to use it more as a bigger small box expansion than with the board itself.

I'll vote for same as above - Dunwich is fun add-on cause dunwich horror (monster can easy increase terror if players don't watch) and rifts are bbbooooorrrrriiiiinnnngggg. It would be better if monsters/gates appear there as well - this way 1 player just go to draw ton of location encounters and no real fun.

Curse of the Dark Pharaoh - 2 (Hurt)
Dunwich Horror - 11 (Hurt)

::Gasp:: I'm shocked. Lurker was knocked out! This is what happens in my absence.

Anyway, Kingsport Horror's epic battle cards are such a good add-on that it shouldn't be eliminated. The Dunwich board is not enough of a threat to pose a challenge, and CotDP is just not enough of a difficulty increase.

It doesn't surprise me at all. Remember, many die hard Arkham players haunt this forum, and many of us resent Lurker for having a sorry excuse for a guardian ;') I mean, really, relationships *and* a guardian disguised as a herald?

Guardian aside, there's still plenty of other things to like about it. Plus basically every expansion has one significant element (or more, yes I am looking at you, Black Goat) that just completely doesn't work as well as we might have hoped, so it's not like we shouldn't have seen it coming.

I'm surprised too. Avi and Julia aside, I was feeling a lot of love on the forum for Lurker. Wasn't it often mentioned as the small box expansion to get first? Because it has the most stuff?

Dunwich Horror - 11
The King in Yellow - 3 (hurt)
Kingsport Horror - 7 (heal)
Innsmouth Horror - 14

Killing these guys is an act of mercy, they dont deserve it - i prefer to see them linger on the edge of death.

Kingsport has taken far too much unnecessary flak round here and its madness to think size is irrelevant...

For not having Vincent Lee part of a Mask Exhibit (Sister Mary instead of Vincent Lee?)
Join the Winning Team. Go back to Shadows of Camelot, you stupid card.
Because Kingsport really showed me that there's more to this game than Gates...and that there's a lot of players who couldn't care less.

Well, you just learned a lesson in Democracy ;'D the angry people who get out the vote often win against the complacent majority. Democracy works! Until it doesn't ;'D

@jgt

When you kill an expansion you should at least say a few kind words. Or gloat.

Don't forget hanging chads, butterfly ballots, and Supreme Court interventions to stop manual recounts.

Mostly I'm annoyed that it blew my bracket.

Alas, poor Dark Pharaoh. You were like a summer fling. When we met, your fresh outlook and exotic Egyptian features made me think we would always be together, but one is often erroneously overemotional about new things. After too many times of being Barred from Neighborhoods or Harried, and having to guess at what you actually meant during half our Encounters, I found you were becoming even tedious about good things, like Psychic, or Scales of Thoth, or Clothing Drive. When it was suggested that a solo fight with Cthulhu ended with permanent Max damage, becoming the ONLY card to date with a permanent effect in play WITHOUT a card or sheet declaring such in the playing area, it was obvious you were not the one for me. I would apologize for taking your Allies, except it would seem that because of you, Dunwich only received five of its own Allies, and after our tumultuous relationship, I am too eager to blame you for that as well. So keep your confusing Encounters, your irritating Haunted Museums, Escaped Asylums, and Shrouded Shadows, and your drab Exhibits that seemed so nifty at first, but are so rarely used as to remain negligible, and just go. Others may love you, but ours was not to be.

Too much? I was trying for something more eloquent than "KILLKILLKILLKILLKILL", but I think I landed in "High School Melodrama". gran_risa.gif

Perfect; the required blend of regret, remorse and ecstasy.

Strangely, that was rather enjoyable to read...

Anyway:

Dunwich Horror - 10
The King in Yellow - 2 (hurt)
Kingsport Horror - 8
Innsmouth Horror - 15 (heal)
Black Goat of the Woods - 0
The Lurker at the Threshold - 0

Don't get angry at me KiY, but the big-box guys always triumph over you pipsqueaks. At least you have the honor of being the last small box out.

Don't worry CotDP, unlike that faithless monster, I will love you forever, and you can reduce my maximum sanity anytime. Wink wink nudge nudge.

Quite the contrary; the thing that aggravates me about Kingsport is that it had so much more content to work with but barely accomplished as much as Lurker, if that.

(Dunwich, meanwhile, is just taking collateral damage. These next couple eliminations should be interesting.)
