Having problem registering tournamets.

By Church7, in UFS General Discussion

I haven't been a scout for long, but I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong when trying to add a tournament.

Last month I wasn't able to get many up for this month because of this problem, but that problem only lasted for a few days, and it seems to be contantly going now.

Basically, whenever I try to hit create it takes me to a blank white screen with a ? added to the address. Again, this happened to me alot last month and I wasn't able to get much set up for this month, but I assumed it was because something such as the previous tournament, or my venue weren't sanctioned, and that theory seemed logical enough. I've been told it was because the title was too long, so I tried shortening it to just "Standard Event" but that didn't do much, and i tried playing around with nearly every setting and I just can't get it to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help me?

Are you using the new software and OP or GRT?

Church,

If we haven't got the wireless set up at Face-off by next week, if you have a few minutes after League, we'll either head over to my place and I'll walk you through registering your February stuff, or if you want, I'll drop by your place, or something.

I remember you telling me that you got a blank page when trying to submit. Either post here, or PM me on TCO, and let me know what you're putting into each field.

Also, have you registered Maxx as a Venue on the site?

I can relate to this. I had the same problem with that white screen. I emailed Paul Bromen with the details, but I don't think he has managed to figured out the problem. The odd thing is that I could register for standard events okay, but problems poped up when I tried to sign up for the air patch. Perhaps you should also send the situation to him and he might get more info that way.

I'm PMing with Church over on TCO, I think I know what his issue is.

Zero Cross,

When you were doing the air patch, was the title of what you were entering longer then what you would normally enter for a title?

If so, try shortening the title of what you're entering and see if that works.

There's a few other glitches along the way that Retched trouble shot, that we just need to get documented under a help document on the tournament registration site.

I believe the title was "Path of the Master: Air Patch" so it was longer than the usual "Standard Nights." Is there a maximum character limit? I'll make the next title for the Void Patch shorter, hopefully I'll be able to actually register and get support next time.

i didn't realize it was so hard to register. our scout never has problems (at least with registering).

Here are a bunch of issues with the site, and some suggested work around as documented by Retched:

WEBSITE KNOWN ISSUES
# Standard tournaments cannot be created for the month of November 2008. (KNOWN WORK AROUND: Post the date as 2009 and later edit it back down to 2008.)

# Entering any symbols (other than a . or @) will cause the screen to go blank when the second form is completed. This is also the cause for the screen to go blank when entering venues and phone numbers.

# Creating a tournament Name that is too long will cause your confirmation to go blank and not be submitted. Also Editing in a name that is too long will cause the screen to print a "Tournament Updated" but will not actually update the name. (EDIT) The limit appears to be 50 characters with spaces.

# SUGGESTION: Ability to sort tournaments by name, date, or type, accordingly. Also Tournament Date in "My Tournaments would be helpful. Currently the tournaments will automatically be sorted by name. (KNOWN WORK AROUND: Play the date in mm.dd.yy format first before the name.)

# SUGGESTION: Forgot password link on main page

# Better LOGOUT link. (Current one will confirm on a second page...)

# SUGGESTION: Drop down list for States/Provinces (canadian)

# Clicking on any of the ? of the forms will take you back to the index page.

Also please note that I think we've discovered that certain fields may have issues with @#$%+ or similar characters.

Thanks for the information.

Zero Cross,

We were able to get Church's issue resolved. So if the info I've forwarded you doesn't help, feel free to pm me over on TCO, and I'll see what I can do to help you. The white screen has been caused by data being entered on the scouts end so far. (Unless you want to go back and forth here on the forum, which I'm more then willing to do if you'd prefer.)

I went ahead and copied this address and sent it to Mr. Bromen's email. I'm sure that he's aware of this but I hope it will be of help just the same.

Were you able to get your tournament registered?

I noticed when I put in "Top #" into final round cut, I end up getting the white screen, but taking out the "top" seems to resolve the issue. So it looks like only numbers can fit into that category.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. That's similar to the issue that Church was having.

Question: The deadline to register for tournaments is the 18th of every month correct? So does that mean when it turns the 18th it is too late to register? I'm asking because I noticed that it's the 18th now, but the void patch selection is no longer on the list of available options under "match"

I think you are correct. I think if you try and register something for Feb, it'll probably tell you that it's too late.
