Anyone using this? It seems like a really great app. I wonder if there are any plans to bring it to Android as well?
New Die Roller for Iphone
I wouldn't really call it "new", but I can't justify it. It only rolls dice, and doesn't automatically roll additional Righteous Successes.
It just doesn't seem functional when I already have a set of dice. If they added in a full toolset, then I'd pay $15 for it.

I feel like this is going to sound like me "selling" it, so I apologize in advance. It's only 3 dollars as far as I can tell, so it seems worth it for nothing else than not wanting to share dice at the table. Buying extra sets is a huge pain. Also, it looks like it tracks statistics of some kind. I'd really like this on Android.
Not auto-rolling Righteous Successes is stupid, though. Totally agree.
It's the only app for iPhone that I've bought and destroyed as totally useless. I love rolling the dices - more the better.
Still waiting for an Android version...

I can see that. I really like the tactile part of actually rolling dice.

You and me both, brotha! I really hope they do it.
While I prefer rolling dice myself... It does give you an unlimited number of dice to roll when needed. Sharing can be an issue if everyone doesn't have their own set.
It is only $2.99 for an unlimited number of dice though and it counts up all of the symbols you roll and displays them for you.
Overall, I'd say it's a pretty darn useful app for those that have an iPod.
I'm sure Android users would love this app too. Port it over FFG! ![]()

Actually that couldn't be more wrong. The app can only roll 15 dice at one time. For rank 3 characters that's a real issue sometimes.
To be honest it's a quite useless app. They should have made a GM app instead where you pick a NPC, alter his stats, assign action cards and then be able to use this app then running encounters to keep track of recharging actions, wounds etc.
A bit strong of a comment, stating this software is useless. You are correct that only 15 dice can be rolled at any give time, but you technically have 15 of every type of die in the game? The combinations are restricted to a max of 15 dice at any one time, but that's it.
One area where the toolkit shines is where you can record your rolls and view success/failure statistics. Seeing how likely you are to be successful with a given roll is very valuable in my opinion. This can be done ahead of time relatively quickly for players to gauge their chances before making a roll. Obviously mods applied by the GM may be added that could mess with the chances, but still, it's not a bad tool to give you a general idea of your chances for success/failure.
I do agree that having tracking software for GM's would be awesome, but for $2.99 this app is NOT useless.
The statistics tracking seems great. I'd love one of these for Windows Phone 7.

Well it is for us in many cases having rank 3 characters where 15 dice just ruin the whole idea of using this. So you suggest rolling some dice first and then the rest in another roll? That's silly. If you have a pool greater than 15 dice, the app doesn't work well and we often have pools of 16+ dice in combat. On top of that it's frustrating that you have to shake your iphone to roll the dice. I'd much rather have a button for it. It's simply too limited and slow to offer an alternative to just rolling normal dice. It's a fun app... but that's it.
When I want a dice roller I just use the dice roller at gmtools. It works perfectly well on my iphone4, is quick, has statistics, can roll all the dice I want, allows me to change the value of the chaos star.
I find that Dicenomicon is much better than WFRP Toolkit ... of course you have to make costume dies but if you use the font that contains the WFRP symbols its not hard at all. Plus its "exploding" die is a much better mechanic than the way FFG has you add the extra expertise die manually.
When I get back to my home machine later in the week, I'll see if theres an easy way to share the dies I put together.

I've never used it, but just downloaded it and saw that you can share your dice in two ways. Either under share, by e-mailing them to the author or by saving a file with the dice and then uploading them so others can download them and import them to their iphone.

I'll have to try to find something like this, at least until FFG makes this app for Android.
There's actually a .99$ app that was released for the Iphone called WFRP dice.
It's aint got dice rolling animations and all that, but there's a ROLL button (no need to shake your Iphone) and it rolls righteous success automatically for you and you can roll up to 10 dices per type. It also calculate your success vs failures, boons vs banes. I tried it yesterday in my first game and I found it pretty good and it allows me to leave all the real dices to my players ![]()
I never tried to official dice roller however.
Looks like IPhone has the Warhammer Fantasy market cornered. I can't find anything but 40K stuff in the Android market.

That sounds more useful. I'll check it out.

WOW! I just re-read what I wrote...GOOD JOB ON THE TYPOS! LOL
BTW, here's the link to it itunes.apple.com/gb/app/wfrp-dice/id395651047
And the good thing about no animations and less graphics is that it loads and react fast.

Yeah I just tried it and unlike the official one this actually does the job quickly, reliably and is much easier to make dice pools in.
I also downloaded dicenomicon. WOW - that is simply one amazing app. It has a character sheet and you can make dice rolls based on that. It does not have WFRP3 support though, but I think the community can write for it and share.
IF someone were to make a wfrp3 xml for it, you would be able to have a character sheet and make the dice roller create dice pools for weapon skill for instance based on your characteristics, stance, skill training, speciality etc. I don't know what is possible, because I was thinking if it was possible to code it as a GM tool, so the character sheet is actually a GM sheet with room for 10 NPCs with stats etc. that sould track everything and create dice pools.
I don't know the first thing about xml though or I would have begun yesterday.,.. because this app is brilliant and full of potential to be a real help for the GM.
It looks like the dice I made (for Dicenomicon) only work with a previous version (2.6?) and don't play well with version 3.0.
I'm trying to tweak them, but can probably remake them if doesn't work. When they where working, the app only counted successes and/or failures so you had to do boons/banes on your own. Plus a comet always counted as a success.
At the time I submitted them to be shared, but I didn't think they new what to make of them (this was right after the core set came out). For whatever reason they where never posted.
Its a nice little app though.
It looks like the WFRP Dice app has been booted out of the iTunes Store...wonder by whom?
The WFRP 'Toolki't doesn't work all that well on my iPad, I don't like shaking a $600 tablet personally. The lack of Righteous Success auto re-rolling and tracking is also pretty lame design. Oh well, cheaper than packs of dice I suppose.
