I don't mind people doing it but think of the theme and it is in the rules.

When playing with the KiY herald, Hastur can't be the AO technically because they are one in the same. I don't have an issue with them as a combo cause its just so EVILdemonio.gif, but I want to make sure I just didn't see things on the KiY rule sheet that wasn't there. And the reason I am putting this up to debate is cause I want our little madhouse's backing when I go against the few people in my group who follow rules to the "T" a lot.

No such thing is in the rules. In fact, you could assert that the King in Yellow is just an avatar of Hastur. Notice that in Hastur's picture alone, two of his forms are depicted simultaneously.

Like Tibs said, just an avatar. Similar to how the Dark Pharaoh or the Black Man are just two of the seemingly hundreds of avatars that Nyarlathotep has.

You're dealing with beings that don't have the same physical restrictions we do. They can be in two places at once.

Isn't your question exactly the thing Lovecraft tried to avoid in his stories? Because you are right now adding the very anthropomorphic idea of being coterminous with only one location/being at a time to Hastur. Who by the way is a primordial vaguely octopoid being trapped under a lake near Aldebaran (according to some). In a reality that accepts magic, sentient fungi and Ubbo-Sathla as the root of all life on earth why can't we accept that Hastur and the King in Yellow as the same being all at once?

I wanted to reply to this in my usual manner when it comes to Houseruling themes just for Theme's sake, but it seems everyone else took care of that for me!

From the KiY rule sheet " It can be used in conjunction with any Ancient One (not just Hastur)"

Notice that it says, "Not just Hastur" and not "Just not Hastur." It is specifying that you can use the herald with any AO instead of the herald being restricted to only being used with Hastur.

It's worth mentioning though.

Are you implying that humans have infiltrated the Arkham Horror forum?!

Cough cough. Not that I'm implying that. Um.

Let's change the subject!
