Another expansion?

By hrothgar47, in Battlestar Galactica

Are there any plans for another expansion? Any plans to consolidate the core game and expansions into one package?

I haven't even played with the expansions yet (I own them, but are waiting for the other players to catch up in series) and I still want more demonio.gif . I really hope they add a third expansion.

I guess we'll have to see how successful Exodus becomes, but it's a tremendous expansion. If FFG continues to consider BSG a viable asset with more to explore, the trajectory thus far points toward a final expansion covering season 4 sometime around the end of this year. I'd expect the title to be "Daybreak", though they could always surprise me. And while we're at it, one of my favorite things to do is imagine the characters. My spec:

  • Political Leader: Romo Lampkin
  • Pilot: Athena
  • Military: ???? (I've heard the razor chick suggested. The movie came out between seasons 3 + 4, but she's out of continuity, by my way of thinking)
  • Support: Doc Cottle

How about Hoshi?

I think the next BG expansion should be "The Brig," with a subgame for prisoners so that they'll have something to do while spending have their time locked up

If they do a 4th expansion, I hope they include a spare set of civilian ships. Mine are getting a bit worn around the edges.

I'd like to see them make the civilian ships miniatures.

How about Hot Dog for Pilot, for military person I like hoshi too, would like to see number 3 added for Cylons.

I emailed Customer Service when the plastic Basestar from Pegasus wouldn't assemble, and also asked for some Battlestar Galactica damage tokens; when I was removing them, two of them split in two pieces. They were prompt on sending replacements. May be worth a shot to shoot an email across.

My brother and I think there will be atleast one more expansion due to the fact that there were four seasons of the show and each expansion has added a new goal card that was dealt with the ending of the season. If that is the case, I think/hope that the final one will be EARTH babeo.gif

There are umpteen hundred (thousand?) expansions for board games. How many have you seen that consolidate? I can only think of a handful. Don't get your hopes up...this isn't a video game where they can add some more megabytes onto the disk and release a Game of the Year edition.

Extra cylon leaders would be cool; '3' , the doctor or maybe even a leader version of '8'

Some different leaders would be very nice. I also think they could make a playable character of any ally they added in the Exodus expansion almost.

Yes, that would be a cool option :)

I would hope to see one more expansion to cover season 4 & 5 (or season 4a and 4b, however you count the two half length seasons).

Given that the main characters from the show are all pretty much now in the game (and some of the negative comments I've seen elsewhere on the forum about the new characters in Exodus), I'm not sure what human characters are left that could be usefully added in, though I'd like to see the 3 Cylon leaders not already featured in Pegasus (this would also mean new treachery cards, and repeating the treachery card rules from Pegasus, so that this 'Daybreak' expansion is stand alone). There's scope for a marine officer character perhaps (OPT ability gives bonus against Centurions?), but I can't think of a character from the show that would fit the role. As an aside, interesting to note the change in character type balance as well - originally, there were three of each type, plus one support - now we have 5 of each type and 3 support (so you could have a game with nothing but support characters now).

I'd like to see some variation on the mid-point sleeper agent phase - instead of just being distance 4+, tie it in to the location (trying to avoid spoilers angel.gif ) in the series the fleet reaches at the end of season 4a. (Maybe travel 3+ distance then one more jump to get to sleeper phase location). Post sleeper phase could then lead up to the assault on the cylon ship - hence my thought of a marine-type character. Something that reflects the decaying state of Galactica (Crisis cards that have damage to Galactica (but not Pegasus) if failed, perhaps?) would also seem appropriate.

And if they could then come up with a way of linking everything together, but still keep the game playable in a decent length of time (not more than double a normal game length), that would be ideal!

I doubt they'll add a lot of characters. As the game follows the seasons, we see characters in the expansions that were adtice during that time in the series. Some of the "standard cast" were added late, that's true. But I doubt they'll come up with a lot. Nonetheless, I wondered why they added Anders and not Hot Dog as a pilot in Exodus.

Other than that, I hope they can come up with another expansion. Truth be told, however, I think it's more a question of continuuos creativity and playability than how many seasons the series included. Looking at the current expansions, any future expansion will likely include another game board and many more cards. When we set up (we included parts of both expansions, hoping and discussing they would work well together) and explained the game to some newbies a couple of weeks ago, it already took 2 hours until we were ready to start. Although this is not all too common and most groups will set up and explain in under an hour, I'm sure, another expansion will definitely lengthen setup, explanation and play time.

Well, I'd love for there to be another expansion... perhaps, as had been said, with a D'Anna and Boomer cylon leaders, and Athena as an option to be used to replace Boomer in some way. And having consolidated epic rules for combining all of the destinations, including the inevitable new one, would be hilarious.

More characters (Romo, Cottle), more Cylon Leaders (neccessary!!! D'Anna, Doral, Simon, Eight), more Agendas.

New destination: Earth, but first human must destroy The Colony! happy.gif

We're still waiting on an Athena character, strange since she appears on the Exodus box art. As for Marines, a Gunney Mathias ( en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Erin_Mathias ) character could be a lot of fun. Someone long ago, before he became a pilot, posted a military leader, Centurion-killing, resistance-leader Anders on BGG, so that would have been a nice option.

I want ... the stat cards of all the NPCs present in Exodus who don't have one yet :)

More seriously ? Romo Lampkin should already have been in Exodus.

I happened to like Diana Seelix on the show, but I guess I'll have to play with the home-made profile for that one.

plus ...

-raptors with missile batteries to support viper raids.

-boards for allied basestar, attack on the Hub, attack on the Colony.

-rescue mission for Hera.

-special events for the uprising (Blood on the scales).

-Demetrius quest

Shitloads of possibilities on this season.

Even continuing already started themes would be awesome. Sadly FFG won't expand underdeveloped themes, such as cylon leaders...

Maybe next piece of BSG universe such as "Blood and Chrome" would inspire game designers?

Somehow I doubt any of this will make it into a new expansion...if there will be one at all. Mostly because FFG tended to put plots like that into the Crisis cards in the past and I don't see why they wouldn't do the same in a new expansion.

The problem I see with a board for an allied basestar is simple: if you add a board to help the humans, playing a Cylon could become a real struggle. There are already components in the core game and several expansions which, if added together in the right combination, can scew the game seriously towards a human victory or a Cylon one. So there foremost mission on FFG's part will be playability. What happens if someone buys only the core game and that last expansion we're currently musing about? What would happen to the playability? Would it need another expansion to even it out? Wouldit need house rules to make it fun? That's what I'm concerned about and I'm sure that's what FFG is thinking, too...if they are even musing about another expansion.

Sorry about the doublepost...dunno what happened.
