By Arvandus, in Rogue Trader

Hey Guys,

Ive already posted this on the Game master sub forum but I thought I would let the players have a chance to listen to it. I have a Actual Play podcast where I post many of our Dark Heresy and Rogue trader Games. Give it a listen and tell me what you think. www.fandible.com

Been listening to it, I'll have to do some more when I have more time at hand.

Dude - either my English is off or you're running it wrong. 2nd part of Psyker Hunt, your female Scum (among others) makes two attacks with the hunting rifle in her turn? You cannot do the same half action twice in your turn. So only a single shot would be possible. However, if she combines the single shot with a half aim she also gets increased damage - check out the Accuracy rules plus the relevant section DH errata. Also she scored for damage 13 and 4 - wouldn't that 13 have been subject to Righteous Fury?

Entertaining so far though; if I spot more errors, I'll keep you posted. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I don't think that's what the GM meant by "tell me what you think". =/

And that's why I put "Entertaining so far though" in italics. However I would find it odd to listen to the podcast, generally comment on it and not point out this error. Why would I want the guys to game on with the GM possibly not knowing that RAW works differently? If they prefer it this way, it'd be fine with me too after all.

Call me pedantic happy.gif but if I was the GM, I'd appreciate someone else pointing this out to me.

I know the rule you're talking about, about being only able to make one attack per turn, even if it's a half action and I'm personally against it, so I wouldn't be surprised if he would rather ignore it.

Yeah, that's quite possible so. I was just pointing out because our group initially did not read this and played it wrong (and I suspect other groups did so as well). I am always informing my own GMs of the RAW, even when the official rules are obviously nonsensical to make sure that the GM knows the official ruling. I want to ensure that the GM has the choice and that he doesn't run things this way based on misreading something only or the like.

Anyway, I have reached the last part of the Psyker Hunt by now. Even though it's not RT but DH, it's nice to return to Iocanthos so-to-speak. Next time I get around, I'll have to ask my GM about that sister for a confession, missed out on here the first time around. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Ill admit we were somewhat wrong on the rules. Truth be told we were doing it wrong for numerous game sessions before we realized our mistake. We tend to have a "check it when it comes up" philosophy when it comes to games. So, the next few Dark heresy sessions will have the dual attacks.

I will be 100% honest though, I tend to play very loose with the rules. I cut and skew stuff on the fly when I think it might get in the way of the RP. So the mistakes you hear will either be us not checking up on a rule or me just skipping it becuase the Player is having a real Badass moment.

Im not saying I dont appreciate the fact check though. Sometimes I get a comment that makes one of the players realize they made a mistake with the character. So please, keep them coming and thanks.

*nods* The only way to play.

I've definitely been diggin' the podcasts. They actually inspired me to break out a USB mic during my last couple game sessions just in case I ever wanted to post some of my groups online. I'm not sure I will, though; I never realized how many F-bombs my girlfriend drops in session until I tried listening to them after the fact... So, so much cursing...

I do have one small request: I don't suppose you could increase the volume on the MP3's a touch for your future broadcasts? I have to strain to listen at max volume when I'm driving sometimes, and that's when I get to listen to most of my podcasts. *shrugs* It's a small thing; your Rogue Trader games are my favorites by far. Especially the Freeboota.

That's why I have been mentioning it. Like I said, I leave it up to GMs and gamers to settle rules issues the way they like, I think it's only best if every understand what the official rules are.

And I might be repeating myself here - we did that wrong also. But check out the hunting rifle. I play a (male) Scum with a Hunting Rifle too (among others) and when your scum takes a half action aim and then a half action standard attack single shot, she is like +10 (aim), +10 (accurate weapon), probably +10 (short range) for a total of +30. Now due to the new accurate basic weapon rules, if she scores 2 degrees of success on that shot, she gets +d10 damage. If she scores 4 DoS, she gets +2d10 bonus damage the (maximum bonus damage) for a total of 3d10+3 damage. I once had taken down a metal body mutant with one lucky shot in the head; it can be that powerful.

Iirc, they did that to make sniping weapons more balanced against full-auto weapons where you can almost literally turn enemies into swiss cheese.

(Just trying to do my fellow scum a favour here -from Scum to Scum- assuming her PC is still alive.)

Anyway, I enjoy the Psyker Hunt session so far, you sound like you've all had a good time there.

Yeah I must say I like your pod cast! The Freeboota and the Kroot are the best!

If you want to listen to another RT podcast, NerdBound as about 8 sessions too of RT.

Hey guys, just started posting our third session of Rogue Trader on our podcast . Its on part 2 of 3 currently. They start to discover the funny things that happen when chaos takes over a ship. Its not exactly rainbows and butterflies. If you have any ideas/suggestions/praise/hatred or any of the emotions associated with humanity, please feel free to comment on the site or here on this thread.

Really not intending to derail this thread but I'm just curious. But you'd be okay with a character with a Heavy Bolter (2d10+2, 5 Pen, Tearing, Full Auto 10) upgraded with Suspensors to make 2 Full-Auto Burst actions in the same round? I did the math and with average rolls, you could take out a carnifax in a single round without ever rolling righteous fury.

To address this real quickly, you can't fire a Heavy Bolter in Full-Auto twice in one round anyway because Full-Auto is a full action. Despite that, I personally think allowing more than one attack in the same turn (aside from Two-weapon fighting) is still a bad idea because it defeats the point of semi-auto fire, Two-Weapon fighting, the benefits of All-Out attacks, and ultimately reduces every round to "I attack twice!" Boooring. Back to the original topic...

Keep up the podcasts, Arvandus, they're a hoot to listen to. Angela's Kroot noises are amusing, Daniel makes a great con artist, Billy's BARSHER DA BARSHER is the best Ork ever, and poor James seems to always take the brunt of whatever misfortune is assailing the players. You have a great group of mature players and your adventures unfold almost like something out of a novel. Your players need to use their fate points more often, though, as that is often the difference between life and death in a bad situation, and even if you've spent them all you can still burn them to save your life.

Hells yes! Barsher made me cry with Laughter. "Who's da Stupid Ork now?" Your 'cast is a weekly listen for me.
