Hi,

I'm fairly new to Talisman and need some clarification when it comes to battling the Eagle King. Can all characters choose to fight him with psychic combat or do they have to have the special abiltiy to choose psychic combat to fight him with psychic combat?

I'm somewhat confused since the example in the highland expansion instructions say, "The Rogue " chooses " to fight the Eagle King in battle instead of psychic combat." Looking at the Rogue card, she doesn't have the special ability to choose whether she battles or does psychic combat. It also states under the heading, "Fighting the Eagle King" that, "A character fighting the Eagle King may choose to battle or wage psychic combat against him."

Fellow players say you can't fight the Eagle King in psychic combat unless your character has the special ability to choose psychic combat.

You may choose to fight the Eagle King in battle or psychic combat. It has no bearing on whether a character is allowed to attack in psychic combat as stated on a character card. The Eagle King is similar in its mechanics to that of Cerberus or Lord of the Pit (you may choose to attack them using battle or psychic combat).
