Shades of Empire and Career Compendium ring in the New Year

Greetings, all… As we dive into the new year, I wanted to take a quick look at what’s going on in the grim world of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

First, Shades of Empire is back from the printers and heading out to distributors, retailers, and consumers. If you pre-ordered your book, you could be getting your copy very, very soon. I’m pleased to say that the pre-orders for Shades of Empire were very strong – so strong, in fact, that a reprint has already been issued to keep up with demand from fans like you!

Next, to dispel some rumors floating around about one of the planned titles, Tomb of Thieves , I wanted to let you hear it from me that, unfortunately, this project has been put on hold. It is an ambitious project, but there were several unforeseen complications while managing and developing the content for Tomb of Thieves .

However, I’m pleased to follow that up with some very good news. Career Compendium is well ahead of schedule. The final print-ready files have been approved, and the book has gone Gold – that’s the last step in the process before being put into the production queue. To make up for the unexpected delays with Tomb of Thieves , Career Compendium was given high priority, and will be available quite a bit earlier than originally expected.

You may remember seeing the great cover sketch by Ralph Horsley for the Career Compendium in a previous diary. The final piece is simply incredible… but don’t take my word for it - take a gander at the final cover for the Career Compendium yourself.

WFRP Career Compendium

In my next designer diary, I hope to leak a bit more about the Career Compendium. Hmmm... what should I share with you? The table of contents? A sample career page? The general introduction? Head on over to the WFRP forums and let me know what sort of sneak-peek you'd like to see.

2009 is gearing up to be a big, big year. I’ve been working with an incredibly talented pool of writers and freelancers to help develop the rest of the exciting lineup for the year. While it’s a bit too early to talk specifics, I’ll keep you posted on our progress and leak what information I can when it becomes available.
