Black hatchling!

...is finally here!

(saw the full Dreadfort Betrayal spoiler on agot.dbler.com - thanks!

so, this means that somewhere in this world someone has gotten a hold of this Chapter Pack!

soon... :D

And it's got an intrigue icon!

And it looks like becoming an auto-include in almost any Targaryen deck I ever build!

Seriously, what's not to love about that guy? He's cheap, has an excellent strength to gold ratio, is a cost effective body to launch Dragon Attack from and can get involved in any type of challenge that you care to initiate, where he will gleefully act as the enabler for The Dragon's Fire (and Dragon Bite, if you're running it for laughs). Sure he can't be used to block, but given how great an attacker he is for one gold, who really cares?

Also, in related 'New Chapter Pack News', am I the only person who sprayed coffee over my laptop and shouted " Seriously?! " after reading "No Use For Grief's" second ability? Kneel 3 Influence to put up to 8 characters directly into play (with as many duplicates as your deck is packing, if my understanding of the rules is correct), the only drawback being that you have to wait until a specific character, one who you would always be running in a Martell deck anyway*, dies? That's absolutely bonkers... it single-handedly makes the Sand Snakes theme deck something that I want to play.

On the upside, it also makes me contemplate giving Kings Landing cycle Red Viper a chance to get some fresh air. Using his 'when I die you all die' response to nuke the table, then vomiting absurd numbers of stealthy, deadly, vengeful Sand Snakes onto the board with No Use For Grief as a second response, would be manifold shades of nedly hilarity.

Finally, Bound By The Light; you're going into my Holy Baratheon deck so fast that it's not even funny. Flinging 3-Cost Asshai characters into play for 1 gold, then, for the grand cost of 0 gold, resurrecting the still warm body of the fallen Asshai with Powers Long Asleep sounds like precisely the kind of move that a deck which is weak against Mil Challenges needs. Think Melisandre into Fiery Followers (Vigilant tri-con for 1 gold! Jackpot!), only for Melisandre to bounce back into play in the next plot phase like nothing even happened. Where has this card been all my life?

And you guys say The Laughing Storm was broken!! Holy 7 what have they done. This is really going to shake things up this year. Should be interesting!!

I think this event will not see lot of play, but of course maybe i'm wrong :-)

Couple of things

I know some folk have been clamoring (at rightly so) for more combo decks. I think the Grief card (an aptly named card BTW) is such a monster. And my thought was King's Landing Viper might see some play. In fact, pulling off that combo once in a while would make that deck hella fun. Pull viper with summoning season, once you get the event and then KAPLOWWY! Then there's snakes on a table (yeah I said it).

Is it just me or is the thought of turning Beric into a cannot die Fat Bob for one gold glorious?

I want this pack now to add the the Elton John song to my Asshai deck...wait...sorry that's bound, not blinded. Either way it's going in.

Mountain Camp, in case your clansman deck just wasn't fast enough already.....

Knight of Summerhall is my new love. I"m really looking forward to bringing multiple of this guy back from the dead every turn. Euron's Enforcers could actually make a Raider deck not horrible... nah who am I kidding :D

How would you do that? I do not see the combo.

Some awesome stuff they put in there.
Is the last chapter pack again packing the best cards of the set, or was ist just such a good set overall?

and.. oh gosh that sword for Beric is so ridiculous

@LoneWanderer - +10 points for use of the word, "vomiting." You, ser, are a poet.

he is talking about Flaming Sword giving Berric extra power for renown like Core Robert

Keep in mind that you also need 3 influence and you can't play with the Knights of the Hollow Hill Agenda if you want to use the Viper's ability.

So you either pack you deck full with influence locations, or you add 1 Red Keep and you use Building Season to go and fetch that card too.

That or you just run Palace Spy / Starfall Merchant and grab the influence while simultaneously cranking out a steady stream of characters...

For any other house three influence would be an inconvenience, but Martell can muster it without breaking a sweat.

So am I missing something, or is dropping 8 characters into play simultaneously a terrible idea since your opponent will just valar the next turn putting 5 uniques in your dead pile? Man, if only Prove One's Worth was still around :P

The sword on the other hand... I wish it would have had an effect related to Thoros, since I'm preeety sure the Beric superunit didn't need any help.

What? Beric isn't that good without the sword, he NEEDED it to be playable.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but grab all the sand snakes you want, would include the ability to grab dupes, dupes which could be used to dupe, thus saving important characters from death.

Beric + Flaming Sword + attachment to give him Holy crest + Power of Faith = up to 8 power in 1 turn. I've already seen the Holy Beric deck, this card just makes it faster.

As per the LCG rules you may only play dupes during marshaling, so you could not use the secondary ability of No use for Grief to play more then 1 copy of a unique sand snake.

Excellent point! Still though, I guess you could replace "Valar" with "Wildfire" and I'd still mostly be right- vomiting out as many characters as you can is usually a bad idea unless you're going for a power grab or have some particular gimmick in mind.

Cool as all get-out if someone can pull it off, but I highly doubt it will ever be consistent - let alone competitive.

Some crazy cards in there.

Is it just me, or is there getting to be so many anti-death cards, it would be nice to see some kill cards again? Valar isn't even good anymore IMHO due to the huge amount of saves/cancels/abilities/CBK that happen out there.

Stark can be made to have some serious repeatable death (Bear Island, Grey Wind, etc.) but there is just getting to be a dearth of targeted (or mass) control compared to the amount of very playable ways around it. *shrug*

Personally I like the increased amount of saving because I really dislike that the biggest and easiest resets are plots. I think Valar and to a lesser extent Wildfire makes it much too easy to wipe the board with very little risk

i got eh atatchment on Mel and turned around an early beating by using Bound to pull Followers out of my deck and fire off three unopposed challenges. Thsi card is pretty sweet - basically gives Bara a way to nerf military claim. More please.
