3 quick questions

By monk, in Runewars

Hi,

Can anyone answer the following:

1. In winter, the secondary ability states that the number of units in a hex must be no more than the number on the food resource dial. Does that stand for the whole of winter? i.e when you draw order cards (still in winter) and take your turn you still can't exceed that number? Or does it only mean that you have a maxim number just at the start of winter, before order cards are played, and can then move units around (max 8 per hex) as normal?

2. There is a season card called (I'm not quoting) power for pious (or vice versa). It states that everyone bid and the loser places a dragon rune token in one hex per enemy. Does that dragon rune come from the stock pile, with no false token.

3. When bidding, if your enemies have no tokens and you have 2, can you bid nothing and still win as you have 2 unspent tokens?

Thanks

The reduction down to your food value happens only at the beginning of the Winter. After that, you are welcome to put more than 8 back in the area (even using a Winter order).

Correct. Any time a card says to place a rune in a specified area (as opposed to "gaining" a rune) you place the rune token in the specified area. The only time you place false runes is when you "Gain" a rune (or "receive" a rune), or with the Favor of Kellos tactics card.

Yup; if that happens, the bid is tied at 0, and your will win the tiebreaker. Thus, leaving yourself with 0 influence is VERY risky, especially in a 2-player game, because it means you cannot win the bid at all (unless everyone has 0 and you had the most starting influence). Even keeping ONE influence gives you some sway, because if the opponent wants to win, they can risk bidding 0 and winning the tiebreaker, or be forced to burn an influence.

I think you mean "... you are welcome to put up to 8 back in the area"? (Unless we're talking about a Mobilize or Conquer order)

Oops, yeah; I started typing "more than your food limit" but then changed it to "8"; darn those hybrid sentences that I forget to double-check :)
