I infer from other posts that the Player's Guide changes the stats to the spear? I wasn't planning on getting the Player or GM Guides anytime soon, but the group's dwarf pitfighter uses a shield and spear and I wondered if this is something I should know about.

Yes I'd love to know about this. The Spear Vs. Halberd debate seems to never end...

EDIT: from another thread, someone mentioned that Spears now have Unreliable 2. Also I think that their CR is now 3 instead of 2.

Can anyone confirm this?

Interesting. I don't know if I'll change it on my player mid-stream, though. I do hope that these various... discrepencies get FAQ or something for those of us not planning on buying the guides, though.
