Questions about SoB and RtL expansions.

By Gnomen, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi.

I have some questions about Descent itself and expansions: SoB and RtL.

  1. Situation 1. One hero has ended his turn standing on the active transportation glyph. Second character wants to use this glyph. Can he do this? Can he move into the space occupied by second figure and use the portal?
  2. Does character can put rest order in city during dungeon exploration? (SoB expansion) If yes, then in which building he can rest?
  3. How to rotate the ship by 90 degree?
  4. How much moving points cost climbing back to the ship from the sea?
  5. Does overlord can have more than one of the same kinds of upgrades?
  6. Does overlord can combine lieutenant from RtL and SoB expansions during SoB campaign?
  7. How it look fight between lieutenant and players? It is in specific battlefield or lieutenant is a boss of 3rd lvl of the dungeon where meet appear?
  8. Under the picture of the lieutenant there is a description. For example: DOOM! Or ‘no special rules’. What does it means?

Thank you for answering for my questions.
G.

p.s. I am really sorry if in the text will be some grammar mistakes. I am not English native speaker.

  1. A hero can use the glyph if he is on it at the beginning of his turn, or a space adjacent to it.
  2. No, he can't. He can take a normal action in the dungeon or a restock action in city.
  3. It is not possible.
  4. One point. If he is crossing a railing, he must spend 1 extra point. See rules in page 27.
  5. Yes, but only one avatar card upgrade of the same type. He can have 2 monster upgrades, 3 treachery points...
  6. No, the LT are not compatible between expansions.
  7. The fight with a LT uses a location card (RTL) or an incident card (SOB). Have you read the rules? sad.gif Page 16 (RTL), 18 (SOB)
  8. That you do not have read the rules, definitely happy.gif . Copied from the rules: "He automatically puts into play, for free, at the start of the encounter, the Power card named on the lieutenant card under the portrait (for example, “DOOM!” for Sir Alric Farrow)".

PS: I am really sorry, too. I am not an English native speaker.

Mostly just what Gran Orco said...
1. You appear to be asking about using the glyphs using the vanilla rules. The campaign rules for glyphs are different and do not involve any movement at all - see RtL pg17-18. However the general answer is yes. Figures may move through friendly figures freely.

2. A hero may not put a Rest on himself while in town during an Advanced Campaign, though it is possible a Rest order might be placed on him by another hero using Leadership or Captain (in which case they would resolve normally regardless of which building the hero is in). I suggest you re-read the Advanced Campaign rules for using glyphs, moving to town, and using buildings, as well as check out teh FAQ, specifically in this case pg15
Glyphs and Town
Q: Can a hero traveling to town via a glyph take any action before Restocking, such as attacking? Does returning from town still cost 1 MP? What other limits are placed on heroes in town and using glyphs?
A: A hero who begins his turn adjacent to or on top of an activated glyph has two options: take a normal turn or go to town. If he goes to town, he is immediately moved to the building of his choice and gets to Restock there. No movement points, no declared action – he just Restocks .
A hero who begins his turn in town has two options:
Restock again (at the same or a different building) or return to the dungeon. If he returns to the dungeon, he declares a normal action (Battle, Ready, Advance, Run) and then must spend a movement point to move from town to the dungeon, just like normal. If he somehow can't do so (i.e. he Battled and had no fatigue left) then the entire action is canceled and the hero Restocks instead.

3. It isn't possible. Ships simply cannot turn - they can move forwards or sideways, or whatever direction the current is in. But they never change the direction they face.

4. 1 (unless crossing a Rail). Moving from Sea to ship is just entering a new space, a ship space, which mostly doesn't have any extra costs to enter.

5. Only Treachery, up to the specified limits for that Avatar.

6. No.

7. The rules for Lt encounters are on RtL pg16 (different numbering in SoB but they are mostly the same rules). The rules specify there that a Lt battl eis similar to a normal encounter (ie draw a location card). Lts never enter dungeons.

8. Read the Lt summary (RtL pg16). Or teh rules for Lt encounters (RtL pg16). And the Lts Fortifying dungeons section (RtL pg17). The text you are asking about is a power card or special ability the OL gets to use during encounters with that Lt or in dungeons near that Lt' location.
