I got friday and saturday a mail from John Goodenough about negative followers.
Since John likes You and likes answering Your questions, maybe You should ask him about the next expansion then? xD
Even if i would tell him that, he will say nothing about it.
It's secret.
Let's hope that some news will arive in april
After playing some pretty dismal video games in the last few years, I'd gladly wait any length of time to ensure the perfection of an add-on.
I am tired of paying for stuff and having it be crap after using it. I am so glad that Fantasy Flight has really put out #1 quality products concerning the Talisman line. They care enough to take time, and that is good enough for me.
I want a desert zone or ocean zone darn it (with a talisman island to discover naturally). Desert zone would require you to have a water bottle because every space would make you lose a life (except for an oasis square). If someone stole your water bottle then you'd be in a lot of trouble, which would make this a dangerous zone. On the other hand, there should be some kind of great reward to be found to make up for this, maybe in some kind of ancient sand temple full of traps...
Imagination ran wild there for a moment.
But the question is, if there is enough water in single water bottle to survive going to ruins in the middle of the desert and going back?
But it would be a good board I think.
Still, I would like to see a cemetery board, with a group of cultist that are preparing some kind of ritual, and we must go there and stop them. Few times in a row.

Good question. What we need is... WATER TOKENS. So, your water bottle holds 4 water tokens, and at the end of each turn in the desert you have to lose one, or a life. You can refill your water bottle at an oasis square or there should be some kind of desert trading post or bizarre somewhere on the map where you can get a new one (and maybe travelling merchants in the desert card deck that will sell you one at a slightly inflated price). Maybe dehydration can effect your followers too. If you have the holy grail, that never runs out of water tokens because, well it's the holy grail.
See, this is a great idea because FFG just love putting tokens in games.
Cemetary board could also be good; maybe a smaller board that could fill one of the spaces between the larger L shaped ones.
Also, the expansion should have camels to carry your stuff. Mules and horses can't go into the desert as they are not built for desert travel, but camels can. Yeah, that would work quite well I think.

So how do you explain the huge timespan where we haven't seen any sign of life concerning Talisman?
They don't even answer emails about Talisman...
But lets assume everything is fine...
So they are just busy developing the expansion. They don't have any marketing advisor who could post some bits of informations to keep the 'fans' excited about the game. See the ‘We are hiring‘ news from march. They can‘t handle coordinating game releases which is obvious due to all releases in the last time.
For me it seems there is a big problem. Cause i was excited almost the whole march. Checking News 2-3 times every day. But now I am just pissed about the situation...
Could be that Goodenough is simply too occupied with other new boardgames that we havent heard about yet. In that case I would rather wait than getting a rushed developed expansion.
But yes, the period in marsh checking FFG everyday was quite exhausting..

I'm still not overly concerned, but a sign of life - if just an official "be patient" - would be nice
I too prefer that FFG take its time and do not break the excellent run of great expansion than rush and release something crappy.
Right now, I am more curious to see if this delay will impact on the next pre-chrismas release of the small expansion, will it be pushed after chrismas?
Cheers

Yeah, i am also wondering if the small expansion at the end of the year will be delayed..
lets hope not but the delay is appreciated here because i didnt buy the frostmarch or the highlands yet i just got into ffg in november and am buying a couple of their games atm i love ffg and the quality of their games
Maybe they're just waiting for the Sacred Pool to be available worldwide before announcing something new ; here in italy we are still waiting for it!
I really hope they do the City expansion this year. I skipped the Highlands because it looks too similar to the Dungeon, but the City would be an auto-buy for me. The 2nd edition City was a mess and I look forward to seeing what FFG does with the idea. I was not a fan of master level characters, though, and I wouldn't miss them at all if they aren't included.

I think it´s very different from the dungeon ( and not as hard ), and a really nice expansion with lots of cool stuff and characters, so i would go buy if i was you.
A city could be nice, especially if they add more stuff to buy, but i´m hoping for a forest, marshland or something like that.
Best Regards

I wonder if we still get a big box expansion for this year..
Maybe that FFG will skip it, and then we must wait if we get a small expansion...

I am hoping that too.
A larger marsh than the 3th edition version would be cool
Movement is reduced to 1..
Would be nice if there are more spirits than strength enemies there.
Including some woods for the elf..

More woods would be great!
Somewhere to spend gold would be nice too.

Yes! If you roll a ´6´ for your move. otherwise you must stay in the space you are in, and your turn ends..

Well if you move only on a roll of six and this move you only to one space and the board is the same size as the dungeon or highland, you just added 2 or 3 more hrs of game play!!!
Some will like it, others wont.

This was just meant as a joke so it would be almost impossible to walk through the marshland
A Marsh of 4 a 5 spaces would be nice.
But it can make it pretty dangerous if you must pass through and some strong enemies are laying down on that space..
Maybe you can find some swamp boots then
The swamp boots has the ability to move normally through those spaces..
Or maybe you can ask the toad king ( who sits at the beginning of the swamp) if he cast a spell that teleport you to the other side
But he wants something in return...( money maybe? or swamp tokens? ( you can gain them from some adventure cards
