Seems interesting, but I'm not so sure what you mean by its title.

heretic = "a professed believer who maintains religious opinions contrary to those accepted by his or her church or rejects doctrines prescribed by that church." In other words, he would still be "good" and just not welcome at the Chapel because others would brand him as evil (not the same thing). He wouldn't be safe in the graveyard devoted to "evil."

I know it's really hard to find a single term people would equate to a priest of an evil religion, but that's not what "heretic" means. The closest I can come up with is somewhat the opposite of "hierophant" (keeper of sacred rites), which would be "beliophant" or "avosiophant" (keeper of profane rites.) But most people wouldn't get it.

Ah!i see. I my got it wrong with the whole heretic thing. Any idea for a name of an "evil" priest?happy.gif

"Zealot" springs to mind or "Fanatic". Zealot is my favourite of course!

Ell.

Zealot is a very good idea.happy.gif

Zealot it will be, at least for now

Thanks

Zealot works, since there's no knowing what he's zealous for until you look at where he's from and what he does. He could be any alignment. I'm almost thinking he should have some kind of "preaching" ability... maybe not to affect characters but perhaps followers.

"When you encounter another character, you may preach to its Folllowers. Roll as for Psychic Combat against the other character. If you win, take one humanoid follower as your reward."

This could replace the swapping trophies ability, which for me breaches the game's mechanics too much (and that's the real reason most players would want it). But, if you're keen on the swapping trophies, you might give it a requirement such as ...

  • only certain spaces, maybe more than one (Graveyard, Runes)
  • miss a turn to do so
  • discard a spell
  • whatever.

Otherwise it will become too much of a problem, since one can use any mix of Craft and Strength to get bumps faster than any other character. By the percentage of Craft vs Strength Enemies in the game, and the Enemy ratio to other cards, he's going to bump his Craft and/or Strength about 15+% faster than any standard character. Combine that with all characters usually building 1/2 to 1/3 of additional Strength and Craft with add-ons and freebies, and that's just too much of an edge.

Maybe "miss your next turn" would be fair. He´s still not better than dark cultist imo, and he still have very low strength at the start of the game. A preaching ability could be fun, but not sure what exactly it should do. Maybe he could preach in the village or city, or something like that.

Me too. I don´t think the ability makes him OP now he has to miss a turn, but it can still be very useful and i´m looking foreward to try him out.
