VASSAL Module

By Paptimus, in Mutant Chronicles

Does anybody have the knowledge (I don't have any programming skill...), patience and hardware (don't have a scanner to scan the maps or stat cards...) to make a Vassal module of this game ? It would go a long way to foster a community around this game... I would love to meet you guys for Vassal fights !

I can make all the graphic material neccesary (the unit icons and everything, as you had see in my battle report), but my time isn't much and my vassal knowledge is... well, you make me know it first time. sonrojado.gif

I think we can make a good vassal module, with a little effort. I'm with you!

Thanks ! It'd be cool if you could send me some graphic material. I'm already trying my hands on creating a Vassal module, but I'm far from a specialist... If there's someone with some experience, that could help a lot !

Thanks for the info, Halakay... Well, I'll put my project on hold (by the way : your Vassal module looked great !)... I don't get my hopes up, but that'd be cool if someone from FFG would tell us their position on the subject...

What's that "Vassal module" you're talking about?

It's weird not being allowed to make something like that... It's all for the good of the game. Or do people need to wait until it "dies" before taking advantage of it?

I think it has to do with copyrighted material... FFG allowed Vassal modules for many of their games. But the Mutant Chronicles IP doesn't belong to FFG, they only got a right to make a mini game out of it. Obviously, a Vassal module could fall in the "videogame" category, so FFG can't give a go to such a module...

To Mr Glum : Vassal is a Java program, allowing to play boardgames over the net. A module is the package created to play a specific game.

Oh, rights me here, and rights me there. Haha. OK then. gui%C3%B1o.gif

The Warzone liscense isn't taken yet though (I think).. Wonder if anyone will pic it up again.

More precisely anyone serious to pick it up properly.

I'd tend to think the problem comes from the seller of the rights, who sells MC rights in small packages (movie, RPG, mini game...)... Not the best IP licensing ever, if you ask me. FFG did the best job out of it, IMHO opinion, but it'd have been so much better if they had gotten the whole rights...

The end of FFG support with this game is kind of sad, a lot... llorando.gif

But now we can advance in the making of a VASSAL module with the MC game, isn't it?

Ciao,

this is what FFG answered to my request:

"Mirko,

After talking this over with the people in charge of sales, marketing, and licensing, we cannot authorize an online version of Mutant Chronicles at this time.
