Offering to hekarti - targeting opponent

By Ataraxia2, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, I've looked everywhere for an answer but couldn't find it, so I hope you can help me with this issue.

I'm playing with 2 friends and my unit is questing Offering to Hekarti Quest:

"ACTION: Discard X resource tokens from this card to give target unit -X Hit Points until the end of the turn.
FORCED: After a unit is put into target opponent's discard pile from play, put a resource token on this card if a unit is questing here."

1. When am I supposed to target opponent?

2. Situation: my 2 friends fought each other and they lost 1 unit each.

Question: can I get 2 resources on my mission?

There aren't official multiplayer rules (yet), so there can't be a real answer to this. You're already playing by some unofficial rules variant, so decide for yourself how to handle this.

1. Whenever an action window opens up (pg 12 of faq updated turn sequence)

2. YES, it triggers for every unit that enters a discard pile

Now that being said there are lots of cards that get broken in multiplayer, so you would have to play a few times and find what works for you.

For instance we find the first player will almost always lose if you skip draw and battle in multiplayer, so we changed that with the house rule NONE ATTACK AND EVERYONE DRAWS FIRST TURN that levels the multiplayer experience we have found

The biggest multi player we have done is 5 and that just gets hairy so we are working on a more intersting format for more than 4 players have a couple of ideas and play testing when we iron the kinks i will post them up here

Big thanks for replies :)

It sounds logical, kuffdaddy, however i'm still unsure about question 2. It seems like I have to target opponent BEFORE his unit is put into discard pile and I can't target two opponents at the same time so I'd get resources for only one player's units. Or can I target opponent right AFTER he puts his unit into discard pile (and get resource on my mission) and after that change the target and get another resource for another player's unit?

I understand that there aren't official multiplayer rules, although I'm looking for the most logical explanation :)

We haven't played with more than 4 players. We are using format posted here and it works quite well. However the game would be very long for 5 or more opponents because this format pushes players toward more defensive strategy. I'm very interested in your ideas and can't wait for them!

The way that card is worded, you have to target the opponent when the card comes into play. The fact that it is multiplayer doesn't make any difference. Even if you were playing only a 2 player game, the forced effect can't trigger until the target is declared, so the only logical time to declare a target is when you play the quest. I'd say they had MP in mind when they made it, and they didn't want it to be crazy strong and trigger off of ANY opponents unit dying, so they put "target" in there.

IMO, it should be worded as:

" When this quest enters play, choose an opponent.

ACTION: Discard X resource tokens from this card to give target unit -X Hit Points until the end of the turn.
FORCED: After a unit is put into chosen opponent's discard pile from play, put a resource token on this card if a unit is questing here.
"

yes i missed the key wording of "target" so it would not trigger every time a unit enters the discard pile entropy has it right
