# of Players/ Difficulty

Ever since i added in some expansions me and my g/fs success rate of winning has gone down the tubes...i think we have lost 5-6 games in a row...we are playing with CotDP, BGotW, and wither Dunwich or Kingsport with only 1 investigator a piece... it just seems that once you add in the expansions that there is too much for 2 people to deal with (dealing with rift tokens, or gate bursts especially) maybe we just aren't strategically adapting to the board or maybe its just bad luck... is there a general concensus on how many investigators you should use when using expansions? how many investigators and what expansions do any of you guys normally play with?

I adamantly stuck to 1 investigator per person. But most of my early games were with just 2 players, so... 2 investigators. When we added Dunwich, this became ridiculously impossible and our win rate plummeted. The AO was waking up due to too many gates nearly every game. So I gave in.

Rule of thumb:

Use at least 1 investigator per "third" of the board.

AH: 3 thirds of a board

DH and KH (and IH): 1/3 of a board each.

So when playing with both DH and KH, use at least 5 investigators. You may want to round that up to 6 so you have 2 each.

Of course, with dilution in effect you might be able to get away with just 4 investigators (2 each). Try both ways and see which works for you.

I find it possible to win by sealing with 3 investigators, but I did a lot of training with 4 and sometimes even 5 investigators (when a large expansion is fresh). I think 4 is generally a reasonable number if you're playing with additional large boards.

When playing with expansion boards, for every one you add (not including the first), you should play with one more investigator. I play with all the expansion boards (loony, I know) and with six investigators so I can cover all that ground.
