Encounter Monsters

By Elendil23, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Just so that I don't confuse other players...which I might have done once today already (for which many apologies)...

If a monster appears as a result of an encounter does the investigator evade/fight it immediately or does s/he have to wait until the next movement phase to do so? My current understanding of the rules is a little hazy in this respect. Have I interpreted them wrongly? So far I have been tackling these monsters as encounters as soon as they appear...this has meant that they have been dealt with (carried off as trophies or returned to the cup) immediately (and has avoided the confusion of remembering which monsters on the board do/do not count to the limit and do/do not remain after being fought/evaded). Other monsters have been dealt with in the movement phase as per the rules...

Immediately, since they are the result of your encounter in that particular location / OW area. Remember that monsters appearing as result of "a monster appears" encounter do not stay on the board, in case you evade them or simply they kick you until unconsciousness / insanity

Thanks...something I have been doing RIGHT.

:-) you're welcome. And don't worry, there are tons of rules and cases to remember, in a couple of games everything should be in the right place!
