Is a 2nd starter worth it?

By Decaramas, in Mutant Chronicles

Hi,

I am wondering what to buy next, I have bought a starter and a few boosters to fill out the two armies contained within it. Is there apart from a good deal on 6 figures any other benefits? Can you use the command cards ? I cant remember if there is a limit copies of a cards. I guess the order tokens will come in handy.

Any advise would be appreciated.

You can select 3 copies of the same command card for a particular army. If you play corporate armies, you and your adversary will need some common command cards like Markmanship and Tactics ones.

I figure an extra starter is good for everything except the units and VZs. Extra order tokens/damage tokens are nice to have, because these always get beat up. Additional copies of command cards are important since you can use multiple copies of the same card in an army list. I always like to have one unit card per unit on the board, even if they are duplicates, just to keep track of what is still alive -- so the extra unit cards can be useful. An additional map is almost a necessity for large-scale matches. Finally (and most importantly, imho), having enough dice to actually roll all of your damage at once without needing to borrow or reroll is a wonderful thing.

And considering you get all of that for only $30 when a standard booster costs $20, I'd say it's worth it. But of course that's just my opinion, and those that are more frugal than me may think otherwise. ;)

Well I bought it. Didnt take much persuading gran_risa.gif

Thanks again

Now you can enjoy the greatness of this game... :P

Like nullstate said, a second starter is good for almost all the parts in it (except Victory zones) : doubling command cards and attack dice helps a lot, but most importantly, getting a second map allows you to build bigger maps : both sides of the map mesh together to form a bigger one, and that allows for much funnier games in 10/10/10...

Yes, and we are going to combine the starter map also with the Mars Map, probably seperated by one row of barbed wire terrain, to give lots of movement options even in 5/5/5 games. An additional starter set is definitely on my list.
