London AGoT Meet - Sat 29 Jan 2011. St. Christopher's Inn, London Bridge.

By The Magus2, in 3. AGoT Organized Play

Hi folks

Sorry for my silence. I've been doing work and dissertation things so have not had gaming on my mind an awful lot but I have organised another Meetup at St Christopher's Inn . It's on Saturday 29th January from 12pm to 6pm in the Lounge Bar Downstairs. I don't think I'll be able to make it but hopefully Dancing Mustard will host.

Cheers

I can't come until the summer, but I'd be very keen to join UK-based AGOT players then. I'm quite a way from London but could come down once a month, probably.

Looking forward to tomorrow chaps.

LoneWanderer - if you get a chance to read this - can you remember to bring your spare RItuals of Rh'llor pack?

Cheers

'Twas loads of fun, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks guys :)

Still completely shocked about the 3rd turn Greyjoy win in the 5-way melee.

Ha. Cheeky Rise of the Kraken?

We could have stopped him - Arys Oakheart was played the Marshalling phase and we could have stopped him by discarding his only military icon. Then, I could have killed a weenie or two with a military challenge (I had Brienne of Tarth which prevents saves), and we all could have stolen some of his power to get him further away from a win.

True dat.

Praise where praise is due though, it was a superb deck and one which I was happy to lose to.

That said, it's not too hard to think of ways to throw a spanner into its workings once you've seen it in action.

For example, off the top of my head:

Plots that hate on Knights of the Hollow Hill based decks, such as first/second turn Blockade (Ha ha! No income for you today.) and Fear of Winter (Enjoy a first turn with one card and no saves!) give an extremely hard time getting started.

Forgotten Plans absolutely ruins its chances of racing ahead with Power of Blood and Rise of the Kraken.

Save haters like Brienne of Tarth (Princes of the Sun ed) let you chop up its lynchpin characters like Tarle and Melisandre, as do unkneeling, deadly, agenda-haters Northern Cavalry Flank. Alternatively, their potent abilities can just be switched off by good old-fashioned Milk of the Poppy and Nightmares (where are your saves now, Mel?).

And finally, a well-timed Assault on Kings Landing would give the deck absolute fits.

Anyway, do we have plans for another meetup some time soon?

Good question.

I've been mad busy of late, so haven't had the time to think about it too hard.

Would be well up for a meetup (even if we just use a kitchen table and don't book a room) on the 26/27 weekend of this month. But am then out of the country 5 - 20 of March.

Once I'm back (or before I go if people are happy with 26/27 March) I'd be happy to book a place. If people let me know what they'd be around for then I'll get some arrangements made.

Hi guys,

Sorry for my silence lately but I've been quite busy at work. Nonetheless I would happily come to any meetup, be it end of Feb or beginning of March. Hope it happens!

Yeah, I'll be fine with anything, as long as it isn't the same time as London on Board weekends. The more AGoT, the better!

So any plans for Saturday?

Apologies for not posting sooner - but yeah, am definitely up for another meet soon. This weekend would be grand if you could organise it Lone Wanderer!
