Hordes of the Things Question

By Phos_Hilaron, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Okay, lets say the OL played "Hordes of the Things" in round 7 of the game. It's a power card, it goes face up in front of the OL for future use.

It's now round 23 and let's say the OL plays another "Hordes of the Things"...

It's now round 26 and lets say the hero's open a new area...

Does the OL "activate" both power cards? and discard both? or do you discard a power card once it is activated? or does it remain in play? (ie the Overlord could "activate" both Hordes of the Things whenever a hero comes to a new area)

???? help please ????

Power cards are generally not discarded. Once played the OL gains their effect for the remainder of the game/dungeon.

If you have two Hordes of things in Play then you get the benefit provided once for each card in play each time the triggering condition (opening a new area) is met.

So in your example, round 26, a new area is opened and there will be four additional creatures in that area that were not in the original dungeon diagram (provided you can place all four adjacent to original creatures as per the text of Hordes of Things).

this is a brutal combination with brilliant commander.

It's powerful, but manageable by a coordinated hero party. Don't forget that by the time the OL puts together enough threat to pay for 3 Power cards, the heroes will (hopefully) have some silver gear kicking around.
