One remark: the official name is Stormrod, Arcane Crozius Of Tarhant.

Couldn't the "Blast"been akin to Soulstorm or simular faith talent instead of being a mechanical wonder?

Apparently using non-DW powers isn't universally appreciated. Well, the Chaplain said the Crozium wasn't recharged yet, so it must have been the power of the crozius. Could have been a warp-based power? Most likely it was. It seemed to ignore armour and had at least felling if not ignoring Toughness outright. So, in simulationist terms, it should inflict at least about 30 damage past armour and toughness of a CSM. Range seems to fairly short in a cone to the front.

That's as much as we can say, I guess.

A crozius is a power weapon - which ignores armour in the TT game. In DW this is represented via a high penetration.

Penetration 9 is effectively igoring armour (Astartes power armour at least).

A modified power weapon that sends a wave of the powerfield out into the flamer-like pattern (as seen in the movie) seems like a perfectly believable thing. No warp-technology needed, just a modification of powerfield technology.

Makes sense but I would rate the damage much higher and the range much lower.

To match the movie more, I agree - it was instant kill on space marines... But there is translation step between a movie and a RPG which is game balance. So that's why I didn't make it something like 3D10 +10E (with Rending).

As for range, you would have to generate a new 'flamer template'. Again within a RPG you don't want too many special case rules. In any case, we don't see how far the powerfield extended (I think).

A new flamer template? Instead of just a description of "AOE is at a 45 degree angle to the front up to 10?' Anyway what you are describing is not the Stormrod but a similar item based on it (which is okay). I'm just saying that if you want to stat the Stormrod, you should give it stats to make it comparable to the movie thing.

Personally I prefer a warp-based attack because it allows for a WP save (which the CSM incidentally all failed). I'm fine with a do-huge-loads-of-damage-to-everything-that-fails-its-WP-check-within-5m-once-per-battle.

But you know what would be even cooler? If we asked Codex Pictures to stat it and the Warhammer for us. gran_risa.gif
