Righteous Fury with Flame Weapons

By fluffaderm, in Dark Heresy

Hello all!

I joined and posted this morning, but I didn't realize things had moved! I had to reregister over here, but it looks like I'm all set now.
happy.gif Anyway...

I recently rolled my first 10 on damage using a flame weapon (Emperor be praised!) and we were left wondering how to handle Righteous Fury, as there is no BS roll for flame weapons. My wise GM (gospog) had me make a basic BS roll to confirm, but I just wanted to check and see if there was a set ruling already made on it.

Thanks! -Jill

I have no idea if there is a ruling or not, but what was done seems reasonable.

Or

Instead of you making a BS check make the unfortunate souls caught in the flames recheck their evasion to see if they can escape with only minimal burns or if they are caught full force with the Righteous Fury of the purifying flame.

Sounds good to me. Yonk!

That's how I would do it. Remember: Using a Flamer without the appropriate Talent does not give you a negative modifier but a bonus to you victims' evasion. Forcing your victims to reroll for Righteous Fury seems to be the only consistent way to go... And the Emperor loves consistency!

Or just house-rule flamers to require a BS test to hit (with a base +30 replacing range modifiers) - rolling for each target in the area, drop the Agl roll to avoid (use a Dodge if you want to avoid it - or hope the shooter misses). It keeps it in line with other weapons and makes skill with the weapon (BS) matter a bit more.
