Who are your favourite artists? Top 5 List.

By Sagremor, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Just a simple question at the beginning of a new year. Who are your favourite artists of A Game of Thrones and who of them would you like to see the most on future cards? Please, present your top 5 lists below.

My list:

Katherine Dinger: Cersei Lannister, Sarella Sand

Gabrielle Portal: Barristan, Devious Intentions, Melisandre, Tyene Sand (wow!)

Tom Garden: Anguy, Relentless Persecution

BTW Gossip and Lies (is this really Thomas Denmark?)

Special praise for Cris/Christine Griffin for making awesome champion cards (is this the same person or husband and wife?)

And that's only from LCG (and not all).

Régis Moulun is one among those I don't like (I hate his style).

I have a feeling that FFG does great job and we have more wonderful illustrators now (look at BwB). I hope it will continue.

ps. Who's responsible for images which are askew 45 degrees (e.g. Catlyn, Mad huntsman). Author or FFG? It's really stupid.

Really? He's got a great palette of colors, his works remind me pre-rafaelites.

Yeah, he's focused on colors, on impression. I like details.

ps. rozumiem, ze tylko patrzysz na te karty ale nie grasz nimi? lengua.gif

In no particular order my favorites are :

Felicia Cano

Ryan Barger

Thomas Jedruszek

Tiziano Baracchi

Frank Miklis

Also whichever artist did Army of Scorpions. That card was one of my absolute favorite looking of all time. Come to think of it, I love how all the 6c10Str armies looked, all the artists who worked on those did great job.

No surprise - Tomasz Jedruszek did all those armies. BTW Army of Scorpions 2 is my current wallpaper happy.gif.

I really, really like Michael Kormack's art. He only did a handful of illustrations for AGoT, but those are iconic images that defined what Westeros art should look like for me long before I got into this game. I don't think it's coincidence that the only AGoT-themed art sleeves FFG has on offer show illustrations of his. I wouldn't mind seeing his Jaime, Tywin and, especially, Gregor on LCG cards in the future. Does anybody know why he didn't do more AGoT cards?

my own favorite is cris griffin, who first caught my attention with her awesome renderings of jon snow and robb stark in particular. because i thought so highly of her versions the big stark characters, she was a natural choice when it came time to pick an artist for my worlds 2009 blackfish design. to show how the extent to which her amazing skill brought to life the scene as it was vaguely defined in my head, here's the art description i gave for the card:

Ser Brynden with the same face and aura as rendered in the House of Thorns Blackfish card art. In this scene, he's sitting on a stationary horse in a shadowy forest, perhaps with a spy glass in one hand and the gathered reins in the other. I'll be depicted as a horse-mounted scout drawn up at his side, with a knocked bow in my unraised/lowered hands, in a posture that's both at ease and vigilant. The scene as a whole should have a feeling of silent watchfulness, as if Ser Brynden and I are peering out through the edge of a forest, or listening to the sounds of the surrounding woods. It might be best if my scout is depicted as being mounted off to Ser Brynden's right hand (to the left in the picture and deeper into the drawing). As for rendering my face as the scout, the best example pic is erick2.jpg (attached). No glasses (obviously), hair a little tousled, and a shadow of facial hair or the onset of scruff, depending on what the artist thinks is best.

the artist I love the most are:

Tomasz Jedruszek

for large scale scene... I have on my house print of "Robb Stark - box Battle of Westeros" and "Greyjoy box art"

Tiziano Baracchi

for character art... I love last Bran, Tyrion Enforcers, Wolves of the North...

hope we can create together a great card... only have to think what to do :-)

1) Tomasz Jedruzek (by far my favorite)

2) Tiziano Barachi

3) Christine Griffin (Dacey, Nymeria, Chella, Brienne, Robb, Jaime, Rhaegar - all very good)

4) Henning Ludvigsen (more for Call of Cthulhu and A Game of Thrones combined)

5) Katherine Dinger

And because I can't decide on only five, 6) Michael Komarck

Lots of runners-up though: Mark Evans, Marco Siegel, Gabrielle Portal, Yann Tisseron (love the feel of Southron Mercs), Ryan Barger, Patrick McEvoy, and whoever/whatever "Sept13" is (The Bastard's Elite is simply awesome).
