Blood of the martyrs. Soul storm

By Xenos66, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

okay while reading the book i have come across a problem which os proberaly to do with my error so I thought I would ask.

when soul storm is used by a charecter the do damage to all those within the area. it specifies that damage is done equal to the amount of corruption points the charecters in the area have. under deamons it specifies "they will ALSO take D10 energy damage" this means that deamons must take damage before the aditional stuff. but deamons dont have a corruption value so how much damage do they take.

More importantly if they done then this power wont stop most deamons ad D10 is enough to hurt on quiet alot but most can shrug it off and carry on charging.

so yer any ideas or have i missed something really simple ??

I´ve always thought that daemons have somewhere around 100 corruption. It is afterall quite difficult to be more corrupted than a physical manifistation of the warp itself....

But that makes this power a bit overpowered...

yer means deamons take 100+D10 energy damage which is quiet alot.

You didn't miss anything. Dæmons do not have souls, therefore the 1 point per corruption would not apply to them. Here, let's go over this a little in a little more detail.

Soul Storm - all damage ignores Armor and Toughness.

  1. Effects a of the Faithful's WB times 10 meters.
  2. Psykers and those with Corruption take damage - 1d10 Energy
  3. Psykers must Test WP or take an additional 1d10 damage and be unable to manifest powers for the remainder of the encounter.
  4. Those with Corruption Points take additional point of damage per point of Corruption.
  5. Dæmons take 1d10 damage and must Test WP or lose access to their powers.
  6. Powerful Dæmons (WP 50+) are completely unaffected by Soul Storm.

Dæmons do not have corruption points because they lack a soul to be corrupted. The effects on the dæmonic are expressed separately and follow those detailing the additional effect on the corrupt. Dæmons with less than 50 WP take 1d10 damage which ignores their Armor and their Toughness; all others ignore the power completely. Now, I would say that a Dæmon that also has a Psy Rating (not all do) should also test as a Psyker on top of the Dæmonic stuff. Sorcerers seem they ought to get the full whammy of the power; base 1d10, Test as Psyker for another 1d10, and additional damage per point of Corruption.

Something disturbing to consider is that not all Warp entities are actually defined as dæmons. If the warp entity lacks the Dæmonic Trait it's not a true Dæmon. If it lacks a Psy Rating it is not a Psyker. Food for thought on what might not be effected by this Faith Talent.
