[All about the fundations fo the creed][BoM]

By Gregorius21778, in Dark Heresy

BoM p.6
“Outside of the Adepta, with their specialised languages (…), most people would struggle to communicate with a citizen from any other planet, let alone understand the society which he hails“.

This is this either just fluff-crap or does it mean one actually needs to role to understand low gothic once he left his homeworld. Not really creed-related, but fun to mention.

“Others know something of the truth – that the Emperor sits upon his Golden Throne on distant Terra”

So, the Golden Throne on Terra is not part of the view ultimate truthes all Missionary Galaxia spread. Funny thing to know.

BoM p17; “Missionary Galaxia”
“Necrophagia, the eating of the dead, is proscribed by the Imperial Creed”
I would have wished for some more examples. Paficismn was always my obvious choice.

BoM p.19
”One constant element is the notion that every human being has a place within the Emperor´s divine order, as expressed through hierarchy of the Ministorum”

And of course, no gods beside HIM (lesser gods get turned into saints).

But that´s it. No mention of virtues hold true by ALL forms. Or traits (like pacifism) that would be scorned by ALL forms of “the creed”,not specific tenements or anything else.

At least, that is what I sieved out of all this "it depends on" and "from world to world it differs" and a lot of similiar. If somebody finds more, please add in the same fashion (which page; quote).

If there will be more then ..let´s say a further five definity statements about "the Imperial Creed" I would be very surprised.

I'll do some digging, but quite literally it does massively vary from world to world. The only real unifiers are "Suffer not the witch, the heretic, or the alien". If you look into the core book they have a bit on the Imperial Faith as well : "The Ecclesiarchy maintains and promotes the cult galaxy-wide, and where possible, tries to sanction worship of the Emperor no matter how bizarre it may seem. Very few practices are proscribed, and even such abominations as human sacrifice to the Emperor are useful to the Imperium, for it is easy to convince a newly encountered culture that approves of such customs to give up its Psykers to the Black Ships."

Basically when it comes down to it they just go out, and congeal any religion into worshiping the Emprah, no matter the form. Find a bunch of primitives on a planet who worships the sun? Explain to them that the sun is the Emperor, and work it into their religion. Thus it becomes reflected any way that you would want. Its very possible that there is worlds that practice a pacifist doctrine, they would be more likely to be, say, agriworlds where soldiers are not drawn from however.

The Imperial Creed is one of those things that has been intentionally not massively defined, because its a unifying force, but not a universally applied thing that every world would have exactly the same. I'd dig through the Core book and Radicals handbook, maybe even IHB has some specific things though.

I'm sure the Ministorum is fine with pacifism, so long as it's clear that mutants, xenos, and witches aren't people and can be killed as if they were animals (or worse really because animals are part of the Emperor's divine plan to feed humanity). And from there it follows that heretics have cast off their humanity and are therefor also fair game.

Your local noble is a Emperor-fearing human, however. Do not raise your hand in anger to your fellow man, no matter how flawed he may be or overtaxed you may be! See? Quite useful.

Well, I just have to travel a few hundred kilometers to the south (i.e. Bavaria) to struggle with the very same problem. And that is on the same planet (even if ones impression is different...) and even country for that matter. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Hi Luthor,

I know, I do have the same problem. But in game terms, this might more due to the fact that you and me speak Hochdeutsch (Low Gothic) while those in Bayern (Southern Germany) take pride to speak Bajuvarisch (or however they like to write it) ... which wold count as some Dialect (like Hive Dialect).

EDIT: This is reflected in game terms since IH. Were you are able to understand the obscurer dialects if you manage a hard (-20) test for LowGothic.

The problem with that is that the is no the Ministorum. In 40K it all comes down to who your dealing with in particular. If you're unlucky you'll even run across an Inquisitor who'll declare your pacifist ideology anathema to the survival of the Imperium. In that case I hope you have fire-proof clothing.
