Red Hook Horror: Custome Expansion Collaboration

By Squidhead Joe, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

So, I've been working on a custom expansion called Red Hook Horror, inspire by the Lovecraftian story Horror at Red Hook. Unfortunately I do not have eons or a laptop which could actually download, install, and run it. Mine has issues. So I was wondering if anyone wanted to assist by making things in eons. I already have content, which I will post in full detail when I have more time, but there are still quite a few things that I invite anybody interested in helping me with, specifically, location and other world encounters, and mythos cards.

What I have so far:

1 Ancient One (with two spawn monsters)

4 Spawn Monsters (specific to Red Hook)

7 Different Monsters (Suydam included)

1 Board (3 Neighborhoods with 3 locations each)

3 Allies

4 Common Items (3 of which are tomes)

4 Summoning Charts (for the Red Hook spawn monsters)

I've also got one investigator that I'm still working on. Other than all that, I've got nothing else so far, so, as I start posting the stuff I've already got finished, I encourage everyone to jump in on this.

I will be glad to help out just send me a link to the program you are trying to use, and whatever info you have planned out so far.

Well i found the link to eons and im going to play around with it a bit just let me know if you still want/need the help ;D

Hi, you have a big plan!

I want to join your project.

I have EON program and a netbook with the Internet.

I believe I could help you.

Awesome. I was just using Microsoft Word to type up the info for all the stuff I was coming up with so far.

So, first off I think I'll start with the board:

Red Hook
Governor’s Island Unstable; Water
Gwanus Bay Unstable; Water
Boat Rentals: You may spend $1 to move to any Aquatic location and have an encounter there. You’re movement ends afterward.
Borough Hall Stable
Flatbush
Old Dutch Church Unstable
Dance Night: You may gain 2 sanity, but must then roll one die. On a failure, lose 1 stamina.
Suydam's Mansion Unstable
Brooklyn Public Library Stable
Librarian Aid: You may spend 5 toughness worth of monsters or 1 gate trophy to gain either Two clue tokens or the first tome in the common item deck.
Parkers Place
Parkers Place Flats Unstable
Greek Restaurant Stable
New York Methodist Hospital Stable
Overcrowded Hospital: You may gain 2 stamina, but must then roll one die. On a failure, lose 1 sanity.

If anyone wants to come up with a name for the Greek Restaurant that'd be cool with me, just don't rip off any currently existing places. Each location should eventually have a random encounter that will allow them to discover an entrance into the secret canals. If they do, place a secret canal token on that location. If there is more than one location with a secret canal token, they may move from one to the other using 1 movement point. This allows them to get around quicker and to avoid run-in's with powerful monsters, but there should only be one or two encounters that allow them to find the canals.

I was going to come up with other worlds but the only thing mentioned in the story would be Tartarus which could easily be considered part of the abyss. So, instead I decided to go with a board mechanic that hybridizes the Kingsport and Dunwich horror mechanics. Of the seven powerful beings mentioned in the story, four of them can be summoned on to the board by having what's essentially a progress bar filled up. The four beings are Lilith, Moloch, Astaroth, and Cybele (Those who have read the story may notice that Hecate, Gorgo, and Mormo aren't among these. I'm saving those for an Ancient One.) The progress of the summonings is determined by monster movement. If there's a crescent on white for the summoning and a card is drawn with a crescent for white movement, then a token is placed on that spot for the summoning progress. This progress has to be in order. Each of these for beings has their own progress bar and once it's full they are placed in a specific locations.

Lilith Crescent/W Star/B Cross/W Crescent/B Star/W Cross/B
Suydam’s Mansion
Moloch Triangle/B Cross/W Hex/B Triangle/W Cross/B Hex/W
Parkers Place Flats
Astaroth Cross/W Slash/B Hex/W Cross/B Slash/W Hex/B
Old Dutch Church
Cybele Square/B Circle/W Triangle/B Square/W Circle/B Slash/W
Governor’s Island

Investigators can remove tokens from each progress bar by going to the specific location of the summoning and spending two clue tokens for each token on that progress bar (an idea inspired by computers in the 90s). If all four of them are brought onto the board, then the ancient one awakens. I should note that only Astaroth can add doom tokens to the doom track, the other three are only their to highly inconvenience anyone trying to stop the others from being summoned. There stats are as such:

Lilith, the Phosphorescent Thing
Stalker
Magical Resistence
Physical Resistence
Awareness: -3
Horror: -
Toughness: 5
Combat: -3/4
Before making an evade or horror check make a will(-2) Check or be devoured.

Moloch, the False King
Normal
Physical Immunity
Awareness: +1
Horror: -4/*
Toughness: 6
Combat: -4/5
If you fail the horror check, lose a number of clue token equal to the 10 - the number of rolled dice

Astaroth, The Crowned Prince
Normal
Physical Resistance
Magical Resistance
Awareness: +0
Horror: -3/3
Toughness: 5
Combat: -3/4
If Astartoth defeats you in combat you must discard an ally of your choice. If you have no allies, you must discard all your possessions or be devoured. If you are devoured or if an ally is discarded in this way, add one doom token to the doom track.

Cybele, The Great Mother
Stationary
Elusive
Magical Immunity
Awareness: -2
Horror: -2/2
Toughness: 6
Combat: -3/3
At the beginning of the mythos phase, each investigator in Brooklyn must one monster trophy and place it on Cybele.

Feel free to ask any questions or make any suggestions. I'll probably post more stuff tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Very interesting: if I can help (I am french and my english is not very good)...

I have Eon and know it a little

Joe, your idea is very interesting.

I could undertand what you wrote.

I have two questions.

One, do you have any form for the summoned creatures? I think you need to design it.

Two, Have you finished making the words used in the encounter cards? or Should I make the text?

I'm not sure what you mean by the first question.

As far as the second question goes, as I said in my first post, I haven't done anything with encounters.

Here are the monsters I've come up with. I'm not sure how much of each there should be.

This really should be in the Fan Creation subforum.

Sorry. Would there be a convenient way of moving it over than just copy pasting everything?

Probably the best thing to do is: opening a new thread in the fan creation section and copy there the relevant infos :-)
