Sisters of Battle ascension?

By Adaras, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hey everybody Merry christmas and happy new year to you all :)

I just got the chance to read blood of martyrs. I had hoped that Sisters of battle got an ascension carrer, but alas it was not so.

So I was wondering what would be good for a sister of battle in Ascension?

Crusader would fit pretty well.

Hierophant, as well. There are recommendations within Ascension as to which Ascended Paths work best for Sisters. As I recall, Crusader , Hierophant , Interrogator and Inquisitor were the recommended paths.

Yes, there have been Sisters raised to Inquisitor status; just as there have been Inquisitors granted a Rogue Trader warrant. Rare, but not unheard of.

shi... i asked it in a another topic. i am not fan of ascension the carreer class are the worst of the books. the crusader fight only with sword while a sister weapons icon are bolter melta and flame weapons not the sword. i will replace it by the stormtrooper carreer changing few thing along the way. i would add sage too.

'Cept it doesn't.

Why doesn't it? A holy warrior who's duty is to protect their designated Inquisitor with their life, and can be tailored to be a destroyer of heretics and daemons? Sounds perfect for a member of the Adeptus Sororitas to me.

... who then gives up her ritual weapons and armour in favour of a completely alien combat style and doctrine to that of a Sister.

No.

As I said, the alternate Sister career should have been Celestine - the highest rank you can get to as a Sister other than Sister Superiors and actual officer ranks. That would have been special. But no, Celestine is just an alternate rank for standard Sisters, which wasted a golden opportunity to include the other types of Sisters as alternate ranks.

My general feeling is that, like many things FFG does, they really disliked the Black Industries take on the Sisters of Battle but knew that they couldn't just cut them out for fear of angering existing fans. So they did their own version for Blood of Martyrs, and while it is better, it's about the bare minimum they could do (and the absolute maximum we'll ever get).

first of all happy new year.

i do not have yet blood of martyrs so. but for the rest i agree with h m b c. the crusader don't fit the purpose. celestine for fighting order and sage for fabulous and hospitaler because their is no real class medic in this game

I would write a completely new carrer, look at both hierophant and stormtrooper for inspiration. happy.gif

You do know you don't have to use only the gear provided by the Ascension, right? I don't see anything hindering a Sister from using power armour, a one-handed boltgun-/pistol and the Suppression Shield (because hey! Extra protection against psy stuff), switching over to the power sword when she gets into melee.

And I'm not quite sure what part of Shield Against Harm, Scourge of Heretics and Slayer of Daemons wouldn't fit in with Sororitas Doctrine. Yes, they're not ranged, but they're IMO exactly what a bodyguard Sororitas would need - firing at an enemy engaged in melee with your inquisitor with a bolt pistol or even larger gun isn't quite what most inquisitors would appreciate.

The solution for everybody's sister-of-battle-ascension problems is hereby presented (thanks FFG!):

I really appreciate that at least some companies listen to the problems which are discussed in their forums!

Of course assuming they didn't plan to release it regardless of what was on the forums gui%C3%B1o.gif lengua.gif

Still, I'm glad it got released, though I still think Crusader makes a fairly good career choice for them, in my opinion.
