Hello, fellow friends.

I will purchase my Core Set next month, so I would like to know, considering the available expansion sets until now, what expansions could you, players, tell me to acquire with the Core Set?

Thanks.

Greetings Pauloswolf! And Welcome!

Answers to follow soon. By whom, not yet sure, but it's late and I welcome you to the boards.

I'd go with Arkham Asylum expansion. A bit more expensive than the packs, but theres some decent amount of quality cards that spawn across every faction.

After you have those too I'd would start looking at what your favorite factions are and get packs based on those.

Or, my real advice if you think you can lay down the cash is to get em all! Nothing like having a complete collection and a number of possibilites only limited by your imagination.

Welcome to CoC, and the forums. :)

Hello, guys.

Thanks Johnny and Magnus.

Magnus, I will take your advice, and sure I will have the complete collection one day. Because I live in Brazil and the postage costs are too expensive, I have to buy the packs accordingly ilitymy cash avaliability. :-)

There is some place where I can find the explanation about which expansion is orientated for wich faction?

(Un)fortuneatly the packs aren't really geared too much towards specific factions, but some packs contain stronger cards for a particular faction or strategies.

Also, there are a couple different duick builder programs and card lists scattered throughout the boards here that can help you figure out which ones you want to go after first.

Otherwise I'd recommend getting the older (not the ones being reprinted) sets. As eventually you won't be able to find them until after the community clammers for another reprint ;)

I'm facing the same problem as OP.

I have Arkham Horror and I like the mythos and I was thinking of getting this as well.

I'm wondering how this game works? Should I buy lots of cards and then make decks with my friend like 3-4 decks and random those to play 1v1 games, or is it recommended I get the starter pack and the style of play I'd like and then ask my friend to buy the starter and some expansions as well?

I'm not short on cash, but I just wouldn't like to buy all the expansions for around 200€ if I'm gonna end up using 2% of them :)

Thanks for the tips.

I agree with you, tlammins. Since I am the only one who will start playing this game from my friends, I have to build at least 3-4 decks so I can play with them and try to convince them to buy this game too. :-)

That´s another concern what comes with the various expansions we have available? Because I have to build some different decks.

I'm pretty new to the game too and have some questions related to the topic.

It seems like I got some serious problems in buying some specific boosters.

Most of them are pretty hard to come by in Germany. On the FFG Site are several expansion not available.

And I actually don't know if I should buy the old non yuggoth contract packs, which don't have 3 cards of each type. I mean is there a reprint on the way, where the old packs may get updated and adjusted to the 3 cards of each system? Or must I hurry and buy all that stuff before it goes out of print?

I will wait. You can see on this page www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp that all summons of the deep expansion is reprinted with all cards in 3 copies.

May be one day we will see the same reprint for the dreamlands and the asylum At the Mountains of Madness and Ancient Horrors. But for the moment with the Secret of Arkham and Silver Twilight boxes, the Yuggoth Contract cycle and the actual Ritual of the order Cycle (and then the reprint of the summons) you have a very good pool of cards to make some fun and competitive deck. So wait and see.

It is pretty clear that they will not reprint anything x3 that has not sold out. Yuggoth Contract being relatively new means you have a year or more before it si likely to even be considered, probably two before it happens. Skip the cycle unless you find it in your local game store or a really great deal on it. If you find after playing for a while you really need some cards from that cycle for a specific deck or two then you can hunt them down, otherwise it isn't that big of a deal.
