Dreamlands Expansion?

By Old Dwarf, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

This may be the result of too much Egg Nog but I was thinking about how FFG has probably expanded out AH (Egg Nog does this to mesonrojado.gif ) & it occured to me that of all the Mythos Other Worlds only the Dreamlands have enough geographic information to which to build an expansion.

Actually a Dreamlands Expansion has enough material to be a stand alone game.I'll have to go to "The Trunk" & pull out the Dreamlands stuff from the CoCRPG material. This might be a interesting winter project.I'm sure there are enough bits(well lose the guns) in AH & the expansions to populate it,so you would just need to create a Board .

There are some GOO's that basically hang out in the Dreamlands but you might need to get creative for a Final Battle end game & the Gates it would seem would have to be modified to represent the more exotic Dreamlands locations (Moon Beast slavers wisk you off to the far side of the moon ).

OK this needs some work & perhaps some more Egg Nog.

In France a wonderful book has been released only weeks ago, describing Kadath in detail. It is both a fascinating book and an artistic masterpiece. At the same day, a new translation and presentation of HPL's writings concerning the Dreamlands has been released. And a french pen & paper RPG editor has announced the release of a game based on these books. No date yet, but should be soon. The promise of a great time in the Dreamlands !

I think Arkham Horror is the best way to explore the horror stories HPL wrote ; but, in my humble opinion, the Dreamlands are best described with words than with a boardgame. Since, your idea is interisting, so post your ideas !

Could you kindly give us some more details? At least title / author!

In my opinion, the best way to explore his work is to actually read it. Also, a lot of the content in Arkham Horror comes from stories written by other mythos authors, so it helps to expand your readings to them as well. In general, I find that the more I read of the mythos, the more entertaining Arkham Horror gets.
