The Edge of Night pdf problem

By LukeZZ, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but the Edge of Night pdf is the only WH3 pdf (so far) with not searchable text. Is it possible to correct the problem?

I don't know if it's rpg now that messes up, but it really annoys me as well.

The issue is FFG's not RPG nows.

I gave the pdf 1 star in my review on rpgnow over this issue:

http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=83967

I contacted rpg now and they said they had raised it with ffg, nothing more came of it.

I encourage all pdf purchasers to give reviews and ratings on rpgnow/drivethru in order to encourage company response.

FFG was very responsive when they first started selling Gathering Storm for $20. I posted review on rpgnow (I think it's still the only view of it there) saying that was too much given you need box too and you're simply paying for the pdf version in order to have the utility of the electronic version, within 24 hours price was $10.

By same token, an unsearchable electronic version has much much less utility.

This is particularly irksome with Edge of Night given it's the adventure you most need to tinker with and make your own so being unable to cut and paste etc. is a real pain.

My TGS and players guide have the same issue now I checked.

My gathering storm and players guide both have the same issue.

It's poor work to be honest.

Do you think it has somethign to do with attempting to limit piracy?

Or perhaps to resolve the very poor performance of the earlier books which had a lot of rendering issues and text which failed to display?

I've been wanting to get the newer PDFs for quite some time now but have been afraid to due to the issues you guys all describe.

Gitz

I got most of the new pdf, they are protected and you cannot copy the text or print the files. Nonetheless, if you look a bit around you can skip this problems, you know ;)

Yeah it's a bit silly not allowing us to copy text from the books. I wonder who can imagine a pirate taking a pdf and copying all the text instead of just hacking the pdf itself.

Sometimes all the protection only hurt the honest customers. I've bought every single piece of WFRP3 release (plus quite a few extra dice).

I'm working on our Obsidian Portal page and I am so **** annoyed that I have to write some of the stuff in manually instead of just copying the text.

Gallows, do you have an email address where I can contact you?

Cheers

Just use a pdf creator to ocr the file maybe?

I don't have TGS, but my Player's Guide, GMG, and Witch's Song work just fine.

So much for SOPA.
