Additional characters

By Shas'O, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi there!

I'm from Germany and I'm looking for all the new additional descent characters.

I already got Jonas, Tobin, Nara and Kel. But I heard about the four characters also available for dungeon quest!

Or are there even more and how do I get them?! I already checked eBay and amazon.

I'm very thankful for all your support and advice!!!

Search on BGG for Antistone's HeroGen v2.3 (+?) spreadsheet to create your own heroes. If you follow the instructions you will end up with much better, more balanced, heroes than the rubbish put out by foreign language editors to support their Descent Editions (Jonas, Tobin and Kel) - which were later released by FFG due to fan demand, but weren't actually built by FFG.
You'll need to supply your own figures and pictures though.

And how do you print it, or how can you add pictures?

There are 6 heroes in DunegonQuest, and the game also comes with hero cards for each of the other three Terrinoth games. As far as I know these heroes are not sold separately, so the way to get them would be to buy DQ, either in English or perhaps in German if/when the translated version is produced.

AFAIK, the four promos you mentioned having are the only four that were sold outside of an expansion/core product for one (or more) of the Terrinoth games.

Hey Steve-O, that's what I wanted to know!! How's the game? Is it worth buying for the miniatures??

And thank you, Corbon!! Do you think you could send me your best self made characters via email? Sounds like you have a cool repertoire!! :) I will find or model some miniatures for it!!

Thank you in advance

I don't own DQ myself, but based on what I remember of the older edition, it's a reasonably fun game. If you enjoy the potential for random, sudden death, even more so! The new game seems to follow in the footsteps of the older based on reviews I've seen.

Hey Steve-O

I just ordered it via amazon. It´s the english version. Don´t know wether there is a german version?!

Thank you for your support.

Do you also have some cool custom self made heroes?? I´d like to see them ??

I bought the DQ because it has the extra 6 characters for Descent but as far as the game goes i would have to say it's purely for laughs as if you play it against someone else you wait to see who dies first. It certainly doesn't have the big variety and combat is highly boring since you have 3 different attacks in 100 cards with no additional effects so it IS boring as hell. You might as well throw raw dices. Anyway 2 of the 6 characters in DQ are the best in descent since tatiana the archer is by far THE BEST runner of the game with 5 speed and 4 fatigue and her ability she can storm a room and then dissapear before the OL can collect her 3 CT value. On the other hand the dwarf dude is the best melee character. With ONLY 2 CT value and 5 fatigue you give him shadow cloak watch him to 4 wounds (total 9 with the shadow cloack now) and then watch him go as with the starting equipment he will have 7 armor and +3 damage. For extra effect give him berserk and watch him go....

I will pretty soon see it for myself! But at least i get 6 new heroes :)

What about YOUR "home brews" ??? I have the feeling that the heroes in the home brews are not that balanced! I really want to collect some cool balanced hero sheets and find or build the miniatures for them myself..

SO hit me with your POWERFUL heroes

There are several threads in the homebrew subforum with different people's heroes. I don't think I did a thread for any of mine - they were mostly done from the flawed official generator rather than Antistone's far superior spreadsheet. The flaws in the original have shown up rather badly during AC play in a couple of cases, though seemingly minor changes would make those heroes much more reasonable.
My experiences come through in comments on other's heroes, though generally mine are based on AC play rather than vanilla.

Some threads that are applicable (I'm sure there are more):
