Game Master's Guide v Adventurer's Guide

By Illustrious, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I just received a copy of my Games Master's Guide in the post. I was a little disappointed in that a lot of the information I had expected to be in here was not. The most glaring example of this is the rules for economy and equipment. Does this come in the Adventurer's Guide? Frankly the way that FFG have split stuff up in these two books makes no sense to me. Why not make one 'core' rule book with ALL of the rules and the section on GMing, and then make a second 'fluff' book with all the information relating to magic, priests, etc etc.

Off the top of my head, it's easier to sell two $50 books than a $90 book (and then a $50 book that very few would buy).

Were it the other way around (equipment info in the GM's book), then players would complain that they don't get the info that they need. Guess you can't win either way.

I find it hard to believe that book would cost $90 if they had combined the material.

The economy stuff was in the soft-cover general rules, not GM book, so it is consistent it's in Player Handbook. It's player-facing information and should be acceessible to them.

Splitting content always made sense to me in 'GM'd" games - one book that only a GM has to buy, other books the GM has to buy and that others may too (though in my group we make do with one set of rules).

Sounds like you have a heritage with D&D. I've always seen it as a bit of a con personally.

Ill,

I'm on board with Doc. The big issue with the core set was that people just didn't want to that kind of cash /all at once./

I hear you though. It would be nice to have the indexes uploaded (lord, tell me there are indices).
