Deathwatch Gear Cards

By ak-73, in Deathwatch

New cards.

I am posting here a "trial" version, 18 cards of Respected Renown level.

If FFG is fine with that, I'll post the cards of the other levels too. Please note that I have pulled some stats from almost all the cards to protect FFG's IP (should be easy enough to fill in though for those who own the book).

Linky: www.megaupload.com/ (dead)

New Linky (latest version (v3)): www.mediafire.com/ (updated Jan 27th, 2012)

If there is no complaints/no suggestions from FFG, I'll post the other cards in a few days? I hope that would be okay.

Alex

Thank you, the idea is great.I will take a closer look the days!

Looks great, but what I'd really like to see is Squad Mode cards - this would make choosing oaths some much easier!

LOL, now I have a follow-up project.

Alex

hey hey, you sent me the three sets you made and I saw that the set you sent me had the same images as the first time I downloaded the images... is that deliberate or did you just not upload the editted set to me by accident? If you want to use the images that you chose the first time then thats fine... I was just wondering...

Well, if none of the images had been replaced with some of yours, that was then the wrong version. Check out the Missile Launcher. If it's your ML it's the correct version, otherwise it's not. Also I am considering using some shots from the Ultramarines movie for weapons... they have higher quality bolt weapons than the images both you and I have been coming up. Any thoughts on that idea?

Alex

Plus for the shotgun I have found an actual 40k model and not the Franchi SPAS that both you and I had as images (in different versions). happy.gif

Same with the Silencer, for example. No slight intended though, I hope you'll find the image quality adequate.

Okay, here's the full set of cards, again almost all lacking some statistic (see topic starting post of mine):

www.megaupload.com/

Please post any suggestions for improvement (pix, errata, missing cards, etc).

yeah its the old set XD. I'll re-download the second link when I get home or is it just the first link re-posted? And I totally agree, the images from the Ultramarines movie would be a really good replacement.

Your doing awesoem with these, I'm glad I can be a part of it XD My RPers are already chomping at the bit to get hold of some of these cards, but I'm not letting them have any until all of the sets are printed off.

Sorry for the mix-up, I hope the new link contains the updated stuff. A handful of cards should include your pics, I'll put your name in the credits of the readme of the next version.

Unfortunately the stills of Ultramarines would be copy-right protected. But for personal use it shouldn't be a problem. One could of course use the official pix from their homepage but they have a big tag all over them.

Alex

Acknowledgement in the credits would be very nice thank you XD And if you emailed the Ultramarines people and asked them if you could use the images for making a set of cards for personal use, and that you will be posting a link up on the internet for people to download, just to clear up any legal issues if they dont like you using thier images for some obscure reason...

I wont be able to do much over christmas 'cos I'm spending it with my girlfriends family, and I'm working, but I'll have no problem getting right back on it between christmas and the new year and after the new year.

Ave Imperator! and a merry christmas to all! -Tomnissiah

New download. Now officially renamed to Deathwatch Game Cards project.

I added a Squad Mode ability set, as suggested by some. As before I have been pulling stats from the cards for the same reasons.

Here is the download link of DWGC v2 Beta:

Feedback requested.

Alex

Looks great!

but in squad modes I'd like to see which oaths the modes go with (maybe colour-coding somehow?) That would really speed up pre-mission decisions!

Hi,

really like the idea behind this and i've downloaded the links provided however i've hit a small problem - I can't actually open any of the files, as such I have two questions;

1) what software do I need to have to open these cards?

2) Is it possible for you to post a PDF version of the cards?

Thanks

Surak

@skie: you need the table from the book anyway because the oaths also provide special bonuses, so I think it's best to give the player a copy of the table plus the cards so that they can compare.

@surak: it stands in the readme - magic set editor. I'm publishing it in this format so that it is easy for everyone to customize the cards with one's own pics or house rules, etc. It's a fairly small app and in wide-spread use regarding custom game cards (not just magic). It also allows to export cards in an image format. If you want them as a pdf, just use a print-to-pdf app of your choosing.

@public: I'll post the errata'd versions sometime soon.

Thanks for clearing that up, I have now downloaded the software and your right it is a fantastic little application. If I get too much free time at some point I may go for the long haul and try and make a full set of 40K rpg weapon and equipment cards, if i do i'll post a link here beacuse there is no such thing as too many tools for a gm.

Surak

I just use post-it notes for my requisition gear and oaths. They are dirt cheap and stick to the character sheet between games so they don't get lost.

can you upload them elsewhere too? Megaupload is down atm :(

I recalled reading online that Megaupload was being sued and had been shut down by the American F.B.I. Therefore its down. Any alternatives Alex? The cards have been really useful. Heck I can use it to teach preschool kids how to play deathwatch. BTW are the FF chapters updated in there as well?

I'll put up the post-errata cards soon. Core Rulebook + RoB. If anyone wants to add to it (say FF), no problem with that - I'll include them in the next version then and give due credit.

v3 uploaded (see thread starting post)

Was a quick fix job, so error-prone. Some stuff like the RoB relics are still missing too. As I said, if anyone wants to contribute...

Alex

If anyone wants complete (Core book, RoB & FF) squad/solo mode and pysker powers, check my sig. They are PDF'd and ready to print and be used.

Had them done a wee while ago.

I also intend to, time permitting, get complete equipment and Imperial Assets done in a similar fashion.

PDF isn't a good format because it's not easily modifiable. It has been hinted at that further modification of the optional stats is going to come - which means in case I don't update the cards anymore, anybody can do the adjustment of my cards for themselves. Or add the FF stuff or stuff from MOTX, Achilles Assault, etc.

Alex

I don't have them just in PDF format, that'd be silly.

I use a modified version of a freeware 4e DnD power card builder. I have all the powers setup in that. Changing it is dead easy. What's more, I'm keeping on top of updating things with the errata and I post when I've updated them. They work, I use them and, by all accounts, so do more than a few on here.

I do the work of taking the awesome stuff that FFG makes, turn it into easily usable power cards and you guys get to reap the benefits. I'm not going anywhere and plan on continuing these for a considerable amount of time.

If anyone wants the program I use and/or the individual card files, ask and ye shall recieve.

-Durandal

I am merely pointing out the advantages of an open source format. Should I one day vanish for whatever reason, all someone needs to modify/update the cards is MSE. LOL, reminds me of the GTA:LC modding project where one of the main modders had been absent for a long time which grinded the mod to a halt because he was the only one with the latest source code. In collaborative work on the internet, open source is best.

Alex

are these available still somewhere? Megaupload being down and all...
