Favorite Title card

By Innsmouth13, in Battlestar Galactica

With Exodus coming closer to stores as days pass by I wanted to take a quick poll:

What title card do you like best (Pres, Adm, CAG) and Why?

Mine is the Admiral because I like having the choose of jump location and control of the nukes. The only issue with my group is I always end up playing as a support character cause one person is OBSESSED with Starbuck, my brother is almost always Helo causes he wants the chance to pilot a viper, and the other (when we have four) is a political character (which I don't mind cause I don't like any of them except Baltar), So I have to be support which is low on the toetum poll.

CAG hands down.

Why? easy, I'm a huge fan of playing the Pilot, Apollo specificaly. Pilots will now be HUGELY responsible for not only keeping civilian ships safe and have a better ability to do so (communications / pilot cooperation is going to be very important ) not only that but I think there is going to be more opportunities for the cylons to cause damage to galactica and preventing heavy raiders from boarding, the CAG plays a big role in every game now, because they are the first line of defense against pretty much every win condition for the cylons and now there will be more for the CAG to do. Not only that, but piloting cards will now no longer be as useless as they were after the first jump (when the likelihood of a bunch of cylons hitting the board were not as great).

I cant wait for exodus, this thing needs to be released yesterday

Tough question, and I truly can't answer it. Sure, I like to be the Admiral more often than not, but at the same time I prefer some position of power. Being Roslyn can be pretty sweet if you end up being a cylon (President and best of two Crisis cards), but being able to take piddly jumps with the Admiralcy can be great as well. I'm looking forward to seeing how the CAG title will work, so i have to withhold judgement on that card for the time being.

I suppose I should also add the flip-side of these titles, that when you are human you can make the best choices on certain cards. Admiralcy is probably the better title for a human character over presidency, even though the president has some important decisions to make over the course of a game and having a president cylon can be worse than a president admiral.

I'm kind of curious why you *have* to be support? Not to mention if you random first player then you can choose first and force someone to play someone new every once and a while.

I personally prefer Presidency. The reason I have for that is if i'm a cylon, people aren't likely to jump at the chance to see if you're a cylon. As an admiral, people *always* check you out first. Or at least, should always.

I guess as a human player i'd prefer Admiral, since guaranteeing those high jumps leads to a quicker game and more likely to win as humans.

I am "forced" to be support cause BSG is my bro's game and I let him pick first then our friend with the Starbucks obsession takes her and I hate poltical leaders for the most part.

An interesting side note of the 5 games i've played I have never been a cylon.

I would tell them that first pick should be random so that everyone gets the chance to be who they want to be, for instance, I love playing as Apollo, but if I can't, then I can at least fall back on Adama or Agathon if I REALLY want to pilot something.

They sound like a group I wouldnt like to play with if they insist on certain characters

You still don't have to be support. If you're picking fourth, then assuming nobody else picked support you can pick whatever character you want.

I know i don't have to be support when I am picking fourth, but I like having the engineering cards in my hand at all times so i can repair places to keep people on my side. I am known as the accuser because I always keep my eyes at other's skill set and what is put in skill check. But this back fires at me cause everyone gets annoyed at me and they throw me in the brig. In the end though, I was right with who I picked as the cylon. My group is mainly filled with people who rather play "easy" games like Monopoly or Crainium.

Can't say that I have a favorite - in our games we check the President's loyalty before the Admiral's since a Cylon Pres can do awful things with Quorum cards. My fav character to play is probably Ellen though, so I end up as Pres way more often than I do Admiral.
