Wound Thresholds

By Kartigan13, in WFRP Rules Questions

Is there a reason a player is not knocked unconscious until he goes over his wound threshold, but a monster is defeated when it takes wounds equal to its wound threshold? Did I miss something in the FAQ? Or is this just one of those silly little rules inconsistencies?

The page numbers where I got this from are the character sheet example on page 15 of the core rulebook and page 47 of the ToA, on the statistics table example for NPCs.

Looks like page 47 of the ToA is incorrect about standard enemies. It correctly states the rule about a henchmen only being able to sustain a number of wounds equal to its toughness in the same paragraph. On page 41 of the ToA it has the rule properly expressed under the heading Tracking Enemy Wounds. Also, on page 46 of the ToA under the heading Wound Thresholds the wording is a little misleading - it states that a creature's wound threshold indicates the maximum number of wounds a standard creature of that type can withstand before being defeated. Which is true: more than that number is the maximum before being defeated. Yes there are inconsistencies between PCs and standard creatures, and henchmen as henchmen have no wound threshold. The wording of table on page 47 was most likely changed during editing since in addition to the rule error the word "suffering" is used, rather than "suffered". I know I've made my share of cut and paste errors in my day.

That's how I understand(or rationalize) the rules at least.

Aye thanks, that would make more sense, and be more consistent.
