Blood angel assault marine infinite damage?

I've seen this referenced a few times, how's it work exactly, and are there any other over the top combos to avoid? I LIKE a challenge in the name of the Emperor.

How does you folken get 6d10 take the highest?

Also, what books would I need to pick up to get stats for Orks and Eldar?

I can only answer this bit, but for the Eldar you might want to check out Creatures Anathema (DH) and Lure of the Expanse (RT). For Orks you might want to check out Into the Storm, in which Nathan Dowdell seemed to do a pretty good job of balancing limited space with a good "How to roleplay" section.

Not sure if that's what you're interested in, but there we go.

What are you referring to? I've not read anything here on BA Assault marines doing 'infinite' damage, I've just heard the complaints that BA Assault marines have more close combat talents than say a Space Wolf Assault Marine. Given that you CAN get some nice combos that give you healthy bonuses to hit and healthy damage conuses.

Looking at the talent list, you can get +2 damage from crushing blow and +4 to your critical damage. You can pick up flesh tearer which gives you ONE additional die to throw into the mix when determining damage from a tearing weapon- chainswords do 1d10, which would give you a total of 3d10 keep the highest. ChainFISTS give you 2d10 base damage, so you'd roll 4d10 and take the highest two.

You can pick up some other cool talents for hand to hand like precsie blow to eliminate the penalty for called shots, preternatural speed which lets you use switf/lightning attacks as a half action (so you can charge and do it), you can get all kinds of bonuses to hit, but nothing that makes them instant bane to your enemies, and nothing that makes you do totally insane damage. No moreso than any other marine with their weapons stacked with talents, anyhow. For pure damage output pick up the old heavy bolter with special ammo and go crazy, or use a force sword as a librarian. Maybe I'm missing some talents...

@Charmander: There's some combo where a BA Assault marine does 6d10 damage and RFs on an 8+, leading to a massive amount of RFs. I know it's a chain weapon with flesh render, but I don't know where the other two dice come from. Someone was talking about dropping a hive tyrant in one round with it, and my eyes bugged outta mah head!

I can answer that: BA Assault wielding chainsword (any weapon with tearing will do) with flesh renderer. Rolls 3d10 takes highest right? Now while in Blood Frenzy he can reroll damage if none of the dice are eligible for RF and RF happens on 9+ with him. At Rank 7+ it gets infinitely worse with a RF on 8+ for a sub-sector full of hurt for anyone getting hit.

That's a powerful combo, to be sure, but I think perhaps part of the OP's problem here might be that some people are using the word "infinite" a little more loosely than would seem prudent. =P

Yeah, somehow I forgot about the frenzy. That's like a 75% chance of hitting RF at early ranks and 90% and rank 7/8. With the RAW's autoconfirm against aliens and a whole re-roll + all the bonuses...I can see how someone might see it as infinite.

We have no BAs in my group, so I've not witnessed if the modified RF rules (only +1d10, not a bajillion bonuses) helps to solve the issue.
