OL andor Avatar adding additional power dice to minions

By phloyd114, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

To take one specifically, the Titan has the ability to allow unnamed Master Monsters to throw an additional power die when attacking. However, there are mions of which the Master does not throw power dice. I seen examples where there are no black, silver, or gold dice included in such attacks.

So, in the case of Titan (or any other OL ability which applies), do these Master Monsters add a power die relative to the level of the campaign (ie, copper is black, silver is silver, etc.), or conversely, if the Master Monster doesn't roll power dice, is this ability not used?

The only Masters that don't normally roll a power dice are Trolls, which are a special case due to Bash. They do not get an extra power dice of any colour - they use the Bash rule which gives them 0-5 Black dice (their choice) regardless of circumstances.

As the monster classes are upgraded, there are still other Mater Monsters that do not roll power dice. One of which is a Sorcerer, for example. At gold level, a Master Sorcerer rolls white, green, and 2 yellow dice, but no "power" dice. in fact, at gold level there are several, including skeletons.

I appreciate the quick response, but further investigation reveals that no power dice becomes more common for Master Monsters at gold level campaign. From this, I feel the question remains to be answered.

That second yellow die is supposed to be a gold die.

Indeed. It seems as if you are mistaking Yellow and Gold at times - they are of course, quite difficult to tell apart in some circumstances.

Master Sorcerers
Copper - WYb
Silver - WGAg
Gold - WGYAu
Diamond - WGGAu

I repeat, the only Master monsters that don't normally get a power dice are Trolls (who use Bash and don't benefit from the Titan's special ability).

All other Gold Master monsters get a Gold dice - the last dice on their card is gold, not yellow. THe exception is Dark Priests, who always just get a White dice and a selection of power dice (neither yellow nor green for any Dark Priest).
Even if you can't tell between gold or yellow dice despite careful scrutiny, it is easily to figure out which colour the dice should be because the dice upgrades generally follow regular patterns. In the case of the sorceror above, you can see that it starts off with WYb, and each level upgrades the power dice to match (except Diamond, because there are no diamond power dice) and improves a yellow dice to green, or adds a yellow dice if there were none. SImilar patterns exist for nearly all (if not all) monster types.

Thak you very much. That makes perfect sense then.
