A very simple question...

By ESryan, in Tide of Iron

when you are attacking another player and you roll, lets say, 2 hits on his squad, who or how do you determine which figures get killed in that squad? for example, if i get 3 hits on a squad that has a machine gun crew, elite infantry, and a regular infantry, how can you tell who dies? is it the player thats attacking that can choose or is it the defending player? or is there some rule that determines it?

You choose which models to remove as casualties, which your squads have to take.

"you" as in the attacker chooses who dies?

No, the defender decides which figures to remove.

remember that in your example the whole squad dies. a machine gun crew needs only one hit.

i thought that if a machine gun crew takes one hit, they turn into one regular infantry?

no - a MG-crew only counts as one model and thus one casualty.

Same for mortar crews. Thats the drawback of those double peg units. They are powerful but they can get taken out easy.

Sounds like a nice houserule though. Maybe not for every situation. But in some scenarios, to strenghten one side it could be a nice tool for a better balancing.
