Drafting with expantions

I wonder if someone have some advice on drafting.

I have no wish to start making the best deck using all the cards. I'm more into drafting. But it seems added cards removes the tightness of the original draft.

Original there were. (I have not looked it up, so I could have done something wrong in the numbers)

40 cards from race 1
40 cards from race 2
5 cards from race 3
10 neutral cards
3 alliance cards
10 drafting cards.

I want to use all my cards and the natural way is to make 3 piles one for each race. Two randomly chosen races will be the main races where I draw 40 cards each. For the final race I draw 5 cards.

But I have also got the skaven, undead and lizardmen cards. And some of these cards need other cards of that race to work as intended. Should I treat these as races on their own, so they could take any of the 40 card slots? Or is the 10 neurtal card slot enough?

Should I have an other mix than that found in the main rules?

There are some good ideas, even if I didn't find exactly what I wanted. I guess I'll have to experiment and add a version my self when I find the right mix

If you're drafting with just two players and more than just base set, I think the following are the best adjustments to official rules:

-Each player builds two decks from the pool, one Destruction and one Order.

-Wintson-style draft rules. Make three piles of one card, each player looks at the piles sequentially and either 1) takes the pile or 2) adds a card to the pile and looks at the next pile. If you pass on all three, you draw a random card. This is just a generally better draft format for 2 players, especially if you:

-Lower the minimum deck size to something dangerously low - 25 or 30. This makes card evaluation a bit harder, and decking more of a factor. And with Winston drafting, you have to decide whether you can get by drafting just single power cards, or if you need to pick up some bulk packets to pad the deck size a bit.

-Shaping the cardpool is probably the toughest part. You probably want something just over 200 cards, which would work out to 50 per deck per player. I think I would randomly cards from the base set and/or Ulthuan e.g. shuffle all 200 cards from the first set and pick 150 then add battlepack cards as singletons.

This is the problem. As for drafting I want to use the draft in the rules, but mixing all the cards in a pool would make it difficult to use skaven cards that depends on other skaven cards, as they will be rare.

OK, so you're wanting to keep the draft pool exactly the same size as the core set. I would definitely the 5 "splash" faction cards, as they are almost always worthless. Then you could maybe 1-2 more cards from each of the main factions and neutrals. I'd say you probably want between eight and ten Lizardmen/Skaven in the mix.
